September 16, 2024 by brennon

Wargames Atlantic are now taking pre-orders for two new 28mm plastic kits to help suit your Renaissance battlefields. Adding to the collection of Conquistadors they already produced on foot, you can now get their Conquistador Cavalry.

Conquistador Cavalry - Wargames Atlantic

Conquistador Cavalry // Wargames Atlantic

This set allows you to build twelve cavalry figures for your Conquistador armies. You can arm them with swords or spears alongside their shields and you also get a mix of different hat and helmet types which make them useful for battling in the New World and also across the battlefields of 16th Century Europe.

The set contains four frames of Conquisdator riders and four of Conquistador Head/Saddle frames. You will also get four frames of horses in the set and importantly, yes, you will get the eight War Dogs you can use to unleash on your foes, hunting them down as the cavalry ride in behind.

Next, you've got the Renaissance Heavy Cavalry where traditional lance and sword meet gunpowder.

This set should work for those wanting to go beyond the battles of Cortez and explore the battlefields of Europe. This set comes with enough components to build twelve riders armed with swords and lances but also options for matchlock pistols and wheel-lock pistols. There are also additional armour pieces which can be used on the horses plus hat and helmet designs covering Europe from the 15th Century to the 17th Century. This set also comes with a bunch of War Dogs!

This set comes with the same mix of twelve frames covering the various elements that make up the set so you'll have plenty of options when building the miniatures. I think these new sets look great and are going to be good at filling in the gaps in a lot of armies for this period.

There's no reason these miniatures can't end up as part of a Fantasy army either. You don't have to stick with the Historical setting if you'd like to use these as the core of a kingdom's expeditionary force, battling against Lizardmen in the depths of the jungle.

Are you going to be picking up these miniatures?
