Book Heroes & Magical Battles Come To Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
August 15, 2022 by brennon
Games Workshop has been delving back into The Mortal Realms over the last few days announcing a range of pre-orders coming up for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar this weekend. We start with some book-based heroes as Black Library announces new books and miniatures to go alongside them.
Drekki Flynt // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar

The first of these miniatures is Drekki Flynt. As part of his story, The Arkanaut’s Oath (seen below), this genius of the Duardin is going to be taking on terrible storms, Grot pirates and air-beasts as a mighty adventurer in the skies.

The rules for Drakki Flynt are going to be made available for free later this week so you can look at introducing him into your Kharadron Overlords armies. I think the model looks pretty awesome and I can imagine a lot of people are going to be turning him into a Votann warrior considering the love for Dwarves we're seeing at the moment from Games Workshop.
The second of the characters that we're seeing is Cado Ezechiar, a mysterious vampire from The Mortal Realms.
Cado Ezechiar // Warhamnmer Age Of Sigmar
On the path of revenge, Cado Ezechiar is a tragic vampire who will be the bane of any hero or villain that dares to stand in his way. He is seeking to get his own back against the forces of Chaos armed with his mighty greatsword and elegant, Gothic armour as part of The Hollow King.

I'm sensing some good anti-hero vibes from this fellow. He will also get his rules later this week and be an interesting addition to a number of different armies. I do like that Games Workshop has been starting to create their own iconic characters from The Mortal Realms in their book over the last few years. They are good hooks for newcomers to latch on to and get dragged into this Fantasy world. They also start folks thinking about exciting ideas for Soulbound RPG characters!
Arcane Cataclysm Boxed Set
As well as the two new characters and their books, there is also the big new Arcane Cataclysm boxed set for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar.

We've discussed this set in the past so you can get a look at the details HERE. This is going to be a good way to start a new Lumineth Realm-lords army or perhaps start following the Disciples Of Tzeentch. Two new character models are presented within the set with the Scinari Enlightener and the updated miniature for the Curseling.
You also get the rulebook in there for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar so this could be a neat expansion for an existing army or a starting place for you and a friend.
Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry
As if that wasn't enough, we also have some new releases for the skirmish version of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar called Warcry. The brand new Centaurion Marshal

This fellow is going to be rampaging into your skirmish games and making sure that everyone knows that Be'lakor is boss! He can be allied with any Chaos warband and will also have rules for your Slaves To Darkness armies.
Keeping up the Be'lakor-loving theme, we also have the full warband release for the Chaos Legionnaires.
Chaos Legionnaires // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry
These elite Chaos warriors are going to be an awesome warband to use on the tabletop that seem very much inspired by Chaos miniatures of old. I like the callbacks to some older miniature designs as well, especially with the shields mirroring those of the (somehow) still in service Chaos Marauders.
We're also getting the Warcry Compendium that contains updated Fighter Profiles and Powers for all of the different warbands that currently exist in Warcry.

After seeing the contents page in the video for this weekend's upcoming pre-orders, it doesn't seem like it contains much more than the free set of PDFs that we got a few weeks ago. So, if you managed to download those then you should be in luck. It might be worth picking this up if you prefer having a physical book though.
All of these miniatures are going to be available to pre-order this weekend from Games Workshop and over at Store.OnTableTop!
Are you going to be picking these up for your Mortal Realms collection?

not going to lie that Vampire model looks pretty cool.
I love the centaur an the arkanaut figures.
After looking at the page numbers of the pdf’s of the Alliances’ lists, maybe the compendium could also have the updated cards for all the Warhammer Underworld minis that had been listed in the Tome of Champions 2021 and were glearingly absent from said digital documents. But only time will tell….
Oh this is going to hurt the wallet I really want Cado Ezechiar the vampire. I do like the Chaos Legionnaires warband over the ones in the new warcry box. I guess not getting the new box I saved some money I can spend on these 🙂
