Bloody Miniatures have been showing off some of the upcoming figures joining their English Civil War range in 28mm scale. There are two sets with The Flashing Blades charging onto the battlefield first for the Royalists.

The Flashing Blades #1 - Bloody Miniatures

These dashing cavaliers come with big hats, fancy outfits and swords at the ready. The full set of miniatures will give you some pretty good options for those looking to bulk out the cavalry side of your Royalist army armed with their swords but with the option to glue pistol butts into the holsters that you see empty on the sides of the horses.

The idea is that you can pop the pistols into the holsters if your riders aren't using them or leave them empty if the rider is getting ready to take a shot from the saddles. It helps avoid the issue of having a pistol in the holster and in the hand which can look a bit weird. The horses used are eBob sculpts which have been adapted and tweaked to fit the English Civil War period.

The second set of cavalry is The Lobsters Ride which takes up the fight for the Parliamentarians.

This is another of the sets that you'll be able to pick up that go with a very different look and feel. Gone are the fancy hats which have now been replaced by grim helmets, three-quarter armour, hammers, poleaxes and pistols. These fellows are looking to knock those Royalists off their horses and make sure they know who's in charge!

These miniatures (alongside a host of other cavalry miniatures - see below) should be coming out in mid-October.

It's nice to see the Bloody Miniatures English Civil War range expanding and I love seeing all of the details worked into the sculpts by Nick Collier.

Could you be tempted to scoop up these cavalry miniatures for your English Civil War force?
