Blast Down Castle Walls With Medbury’s Medieval Artillery
December 5, 2024 by brennon
We've already looked at the Fantasy releases from Medbury Miniatures for this month on Patreon but they also have a small set of Historical offerings, especially for those diving into Medieval wargaming in 28mm.
Early Hundred Years' War Artillery // Medbury Miniatures
These have been designed based on guns that Edward III would have used at Crecy. The information is somewhat loose on what was actually used but Medbury has said that from their bit of research, they have gone with an early cannon and the organ gun-like "ribauldequin". The standard bombard is a great weapon for punching holes in castle walls but the "ribauldequin" could be angled up and down so you could make better use of it when targeting the enemy.
Both are as likely to blow up and kill the crew as the enemy so bear that in mind when bringing these to the battlefield. As well as the artillery pieces, you can also get the crews pictured above.
Early Hundred Years War Artillery Crew // Medbury Miniatures
The crew can be mixed and matched as you see fit although you do have one carrying a massive cannonball and another ready to operate the ribauldequin. As well as being used as part of the English army, you could easily drop these into any European army from the period 1350-1450. A solid set for those seeking to spice up their sieges.
Are you going to be getting your hands on these big boomsticks?
