Black Hussar Lead Your Prussian Soldiers Into Battle
March 2, 2016 by brennon
Black Hussar have now added a command element to their War Of German Unification range and more specifically for the Prussians. This Command Set comes with an array of different models that will inspire your men forward into the fighting - you'd hope...
In the set, which is all metal and in 28mm scale, you get a standard bearer, a musician, a commanding officer and a few more assorted staff that would be there to make sure these chaps didn't get shot as they led the charge.
Have you ever considered this era as one that you'd play games in?

To be honest… not even thought about that era until now. Well (for me as a German) they were very important wars. Without these victories there wouldn’t be any Deutsches Reich (German Empire) or a World War I in the kind we all know it. But I think the campaigns were so fast and everytime followed by short periods of peace that anyone realy thinks about a single war. OK, nearly every village in Germany (at least here in “Prussia”) has a monument to commemorate these campaigns… but well… it’s somewhere inbetween of “the cool wars”… Napoleonics and the two… Read more »
Nice figures. My only problem would be us that the battles during this period were huge so maybe a smaller scale might be more appropriate
Not a great fan of the sculpts tbh..
The stereotypical Prussian officer with a monocle and waxed beard…not exactly inspired.
One chap is missing his bayonet that was a permanent fixture like in the Russian army.
Also the pickelhauben don’t look quite right, maybe a bit too big?
Anyway, I’ll be sticking with my Helion/ Northstar Prussians.
The used Rifles didn’t have all permanent fixed bayonets. The first variants had removable bayonet. The variant for the cavalry had no byonet at all. Some had non removable bayonets, but not all.
The Pickelhauben seem quite well for this period and the guy with monocle… well… most officers or aristocrats at this time had some.
