A Black Dragon Darkens The Dungeons & Dragons Skies
June 11, 2014 by brennon
Dungeons & Dragons have previewed another drake from their upcoming Tyranny of Dragons release. See what you think of the dangerous looking Black Dragon...
Once again I think they've done pretty well with this one. Even though it's pretty much coated entirely in black it does look great and with a little bit of highlighting on the wings and a bit of a wash and work with the mouth you'd have a rather stellar looking dragon.
These things do look fairly massive although I'm not entirely sure on the scale. Most of the people over at the D&D Facebook haven't explained how big or indeed small these are but if those flying stands are around an inch or two long then it's certainly not a small beast.
I really can't get enough of these Dragons and it will be awesome to see the whole selection. They have indeed previewed some of the renders and miniatures for the Attack Wing set over on Cool Stuff Inc. The images are small however...
It looks like the Attack Wing Dragons might be slightly different however it might just be that the render has been posed in a different way. Either way I cannot wait for this set, I think it's going to be amazing and I can't wait to try out Attack Wing with bloody great Dragons!
What do you think?

The dragons are awesome, but the groundforce look lame in comparison…
Just renders at the moment but you aren’t wrong – the foot troops do look pretty shameful. Will see what they look like in reality BUT most likely just stick to Dragons 🙂
I assume the bases will be standard Attack Wing bases which are 4cm long and about 3.8 wide.
Would be surprised if the dragons were different models to the D&D unless there is a way of producing separate figures cost effectively?
Nice to see flying dragons for a change.
So if it’s a 40mm base they seem to have a wingspan of maybe 120mm? Not huge, but decent size.
