Big News For Twisted From Demented Games In February!
January 7, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Demented Games has been hard at work behind the scenes on their storybook steampunk game, Twisted. They have slowly but surely been giving us a peek at the beautiful sculpts they have had ready in the wings for their promised Kickstarter- and they are AMAZING sculpts! If you're like me and have been watching and waiting for the announcement of a Kickstarter date, then this news should make you smile! They have decided not to wait for a Kickstarter to bring the line forward! They have a fantastic bunch of miniatures ready to go now, so they are going to get them out there- and soon!
Beginning in February, they will start bringing out regular releases for Twisted! The first releases will be designed to introduce you to the main characters in this steampunk world in the first two opposing factions. They weren't happy with the drop in quality when the miniatures were produced in plastic, so they will be bringing the minis out in both resin and metal. Each Twisted character will initially be released as a high-quality, Collector’s Edition, resin model as part of a limited production run. Each Collector’s Edition resin character will come with a numbered and signed certificate of authenticity featuring the concept artwork- and let me just say, after seeing the book of artwork at last year's Adepticon, they are absolutely stunning and a must have! Following this, the Gamer’s Edition miniatures will be released in high-quality white metal. The metal Gamer’s Edition will come with the character card needed to use the model in the Twisted game.
They are feverishly polishing the rules for the game and when complete they will be available via download followed by a beautifully illustrated, hard copy rule book.
To make us extra jealous, they will be at a convention in Australia in January with some of these models for sale as well as running demos! I don't know about you, but I have an overwhelming urge to take a trip to Australia!!!
Will you be venturing into the storybook steampunk world of Twisted?

Some of the minis are just lovely.
I cannot wait! I have to get the game for sure but definitely Nancy! She’s the coolest! 🙂
Isn’t this the game with the racist Fagin mini? I mean, they’ve taken one of the most antisemitic characters in fiction and managed to make it worse by giving him a face that looks likes it’s been inspired by a Nazi propaganda poster.
I won’t be buying this.
First they spell it Feygin. Second I’m pretty sure it is suppose to be a mini of the Charles Dickens character Fagin from Oliver Twist. I’ll admit that my knowledge of the character likely isn’t complete, however, I don’t recall him being described as a racist or antisemitic. In fact from wikipedia “In the preface to the novel he is described as a ‘receiver of stolen goods,’ but within the actual story he is more frequently referred to as the ‘merry old gentleman’ or simply the ‘Jew.’ ” I’m sure he is a “bad” character in the game as he… Read more »
You misunderstand. I’m not saying Fagin was a racist. Im saying Fagin is an anti-Semitic portrayal of a negative stereotype. Casual anti-Semitism is not uncommon in Victorian literature and Dickens is no exception.
My problem which this miniature is that they take a vaguely anti-Semitic character and compound the issue by his portrayal. As I said, their “Faygin” reminds me of nothing more than the portrayal of Jews in Nazi propaganda posters.
Yes, every game needs “monsters”, but we don’t need this. In the 21st century we don’t need this.
Hi everyone, this is Sebastian from the Twisted team. I’m very sorry to hear that we’ve caused offence – all I can say is that it certainly wasn’t intended, and I sincerely apologise if it’s been interpreted that way. Nothing could have been further from our minds and we absolutely did not mean to invoke any negative racial or religious connotations with Feygin’s character design. Our Twisted fantastical steampunk universe is religion-free and we certainly do not characterise Feygin as Jewish (or any other religion) in any of his character background. The only reason he appears in our game is… Read more »
@sebastian thanks for the reply. I’m sure that it was never your intension to cause deliberate offence, but I can only assume that nobody on your team actually thought about the implications of how you were portraying this character. I cannot accept that you can take a very well known fictional character, who is defined by his very Jewishness and called “the Jew” multiple times in the novel, give him an appearance which is so typical of negative portrayals of Jews and then say, but our Feygin isn’t meant to be Jewish. With respect, it’s not much of a defence.… Read more »
