Bring The Big Guns! Ashigaru With Ozutsu For Test Of Honour
March 16, 2021 by brennon
True to the previews from last week, this week saw the release of a new set of miniatures for Test Of Honour by Grey For Now Games. The Ashigaru With Ozutsu are now available for you to pick up to use in their 28mm Historical wargame.
Ashigaru With Ozutsu // Test Of Honour
The Ozutsu were heavy muskets that packed an incredible punch. According to the background for these warriors, they actually strapped cloth around the barrel and their wrists to help control the ferocious recoil of the weapon.
Full details for using them in-game can be found as part of the Sengoku Expansion Book but they give you five dice on damage rolls but with less range than your standard musket. You can't move and shoot them either meaning that you'll really need to work out how best to position your Ashigaru.

In addition to just being hefty ways to lay down covering fire, these Ashigaru can also be upgraded with Smoke Clouds which help add cover to the battlefield and "Too Much Gunpowder" which boosts your damage but with the added risk of blowing up and taking down your shooter.

This seems like a nice looking set that offers up a more "elite" option for your warband. I do always like seeing the artwork for the cards that you get in Test Of Honour as it always helps to keep things in-world.
There are plenty of options for those diving into Samurai-era wargames but I do like the look and feel of Test Of Honour. I've only played the first edition of the game and I'd be eager to learn more about the new edition and how it plays. It certainly has the style!
Are you going to be picking up more for Test Of Honour?

Boomsticks!
Moar dakka!
Oops wrong game.
Those look really good.
Great figures with a dangerous new weapon to scare the opposition.
Great minis ! I own quite the collection and these are among the best cast metal minis around. Compared to the sadness inducing metal casts from Warlord for my Bolt Action projects, these are a joy to work with. The sculpts are perfect for hobbyists, the minis have very good volumes and lots of paintable planes.
Nice, may get those for my samurai collection.
