Bearded Thenns & Cruel Blackguard Join CMON’s A Song Of Ice & Fire
October 10, 2019 by brennon
CMON has been showing off some of the new additions to both the Free Folk and Bolton line-ups for A Song Of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game. We start with some grizzled warriors for the Free Folks and the Thenn Warriors.
The Thenn Warriors are renowned amongst the ranks of the Free Folk as they have learned the ways of smithing and craft weapons of their own from bronze rather than stealing them from the Night's Watch as their other kinfolk do. They are therefore a perfect way to add a more heavily armoured option into the mix for your army of Free Folk.
Their armour doesn't match up to the options fielded by the Houses of the South but they make up for that with their cunning and Set Defense ability which cancels out any benefits the enemy might get for charging them. It's hard to break a wall of hardened warriors hunkered down behind their shields.
Bloodthirsty Blackguard
Whilst the Thenns have their own kind of honour that they fight for the Blackguard of House Bolton have no such hindrance holding them back. Take a peek at these brutal warriors...
Clad in spiked armour and wielding nasty flails these would be a horrifying sight to see coming towards you on the battlefield. They won't quit the battle any time soon thanks to their high morale value and they can force an enemy from the field if they are lucky thanks to their brutal weapons and the Horrifying Visage special rule which we've seen for other units already in the range.
They look just as unpleasant as you'd have imagined for House Bolton and it will no doubt be a pleasure for many folks to put them to the sword on the tabletop.
What do you make of the new releases coming soon from CMON?

These look great.I think my wallet has some bad times ahead as i’m looking at Ice & Fire being my mass battle game of choice.
Those Blackguard really do look a bit sinister.
I have pre-ordered both of these units. Lovely models – and a great game.
great looking figures the thenn sound like they will be harder to remove than people think.
Ordered! Shout out to thristymeeples who seem to be able to get stock. Looking forward to beefing up the Bolton’s.
It’s the one game I’ve been on the fence for ages now. I LOVE the minis and the setting, but am so unsure of the rules themselves (after watching the Lets Plays it a very basic rank and file ruleset). Have been thinking of perhaps just buying the minis anyway and doing games using a conversion of SAGA with them (BIG pointed games). Just not sure at all on this one 🙁
It’s fun and has depth to it if you want it to have. I am no rank and flanker, and only picked this up because I was given a deal I could not refuse. And we really enjoyed it even though we aren’t actually into ASOIAF. So much so in fact I am looking at expanding into KoW in a historical setting at some point which is something I had not intended. There are 3 layers to the game which gives it a lot of depth and its own unique flavour. It is a bit swingy in the sense that… Read more »

Cannibalism and flaying… I see the theme with this release…
