Take Your Battleships Into The Clouds With Castles In The Sky
March 4, 2022 by brennon
Osprey Games has previewed a new wargame in their blue book series that should be fun for Steampunk fans to get stuck into. Castles In The Sky is lined up for a release in June of this year.
Castles In The Sky // Osprey Games
Castles In The Sky comes from Eric Farrington and has you diving into an aerial confrontation between flying warships. Turbines have been fired up and aether drives kept at the ready as massive ironclads soar towards each other to dominate the skies.
Eight nationalities are going to be featured in the rulebook alongside a variety of fun scenarios for you to dive into. There is also a full campaign system tied into the game rules allowing you to put together a long-running series of games with your friends.
Are you going to be giving this a shot?

Picked this up, great read as you’d expect. I recommend the Brigade models line of models for players
Thanks for the heads up! I had never heard of that company before, those are some nice looking ships!
Your welcome they have a great range ?
Its not out for another 3 months, how did you pick it up??
? You didn’t hear it from me but….

Hope this helps ?
Thats several versions out of date. In particular the version afterwards (whuch isn’t available online) was a significant rewrite of the rules, and then from there he did a number of additional updates.
Works well enough for us when playing a game but thanks for the heads up much appreciated ?
Also if this is your sort of thing I’d recommend a anthology available on Amazon “Leviathan: Armoured Skies”. Lots of background and some pretty good tales ?
Interesting, got a fair few Brigade games models and Leviathans.
Now gotta copy and they seem very interesting rules so updated my Brigade games Fleets and away we go.
3D battleships definitely opens up new possibilities game wise I wouldn’t fancy the Bismarck an Tirpitz floating around above us all.
Another blue book to add to the collection, love the artwork and who can not love “boats in the sky”.
Will be pre-ordering this!
Catalyst Games had a similar themed game called Leviathans, I am not sure if it is still in production. You could also play a similar style of game with the old Dystopian ruleset. I had a fully painted air-force for the Covenant of Antartica with their flying fortress, back in the day. I sold everything – the memory still hurts.
I really like Osprey’s blue rulebooks. I might get this further down the line.
Leviathans is back with new Kickstarter from Catalyst.
Thanks for the heads up….and remembering my comment!
Why not give it a try. Reminds me of Catalyst Game Labs Leviathans. Good thing I still have the French and English Fleets minis…
It’s Space Fleet – the early years…..
It’s battleship yamato anime (Space Battleship Yamato) 🙂 looks interesting
