Batman & Co Joins Munchkin For Upcoming Kickstarter
February 7, 2022 by fcostin
Classic Batman is returning to our tabletops with a cheesy blue and black outfit in tow. As Steve Jackson Games will be headed over to Kickstarter for an extra big set of dark and gritty Batman-themed Munchkin antics.
Munchkin Batman // Steve Jackson Games
Steve Jackson Games announced on their Twitter on the 3rd of February that there will be a Munchkin Batman title making way to Kickstarter soon, with a huge base title with 250 cards, a bigger box and a playmat to keep your tabletop organised.
Compared to other sets, this one is huge! Normally at roughly 168 cards, the game will be bigger and we can hope for more diversity to play when flexing some heroes and villains in this 250-card set.
Munchkin X-Men // Steve Jackson Games
I adored both the Marvel and X-Men versions of Munchkin that were previously released. Encompassing your normal monster hack -and-slash-ing with roleplaying mechanics into your game of Munchkin. I got to team up with some super-power allies, take down foes, and utilise powers harnessed by the all-powerful X-Men. They are a lot of fun and add yet a new and familiar tweak to Munchkin that we all love and enjoy.
If you're interested in the upcoming Steve Jackson Games title, be sure to get yourself notified on the preview page on Kickstarter. There are already 1200 signed up, so be sure to click the reminder if you are keen on getting Batman and co out onto your table.

I was going to say “I’m sorry to be that guy” but I’m really not and this is meant in no way disrespectful towards the news itself, its a good story to report..
But this product doesnt belong anywhere near Kickstarter in my honest opinion 🙁
I’m with you on that. For various reasons. A) Munchkin is an established brand that’s available almost everywhere. B) The Batman franchise itself would sell it and C) SJG only delivers physical rewards (aka THE GAME) to the US only. So the rest of the world has to wait on the final product anyway. It’s just “USA first with added marketing hype”.
That said I love John Kovalic and his art. Dork Tower is soooo good.
Couldn’t agree more. If anything this kind of approach makes me less likely to actually get the product.
Pure speculation, but licensing. SJG, especially Munchkin, has tons of promos (bookmarks, dice) and their license could limit them to a single print run or something. Or SJG miscalculated the print run of their Marvel Munchkin, and said, “Bleep it. Let’s do a pre-order” with KS. I did notice that SJG and some other companies were “USA only” after VAT was actually being collected on other KS. (Anyone remember how upset backers were with CMON?) Again, speculation, but, along with the time and paperwork for all the different international shipments (Reaper’s early Bones KS paperwork, including incorrect advice from their… Read more »
Speaking of Munchkin, if you’re looking for Munchkin bookmarks and dice (one pound die!) and/or Car Wars promos, SJG is currently running a FnordCon Swag Bag KS. They’ve just added a 2GB logofied thumb drive full of SJG freebies. I went for the shiny regular dice pledge, and it was $23 including shipping to USA. Impulse buy!
