Bad Squiddo Games March Forth With Women Of The Red Army
March 10, 2016 by brennon
Bad Squiddo Games has announced a new range of metal miniatures for you to use with your World War II games. A million women served in the Red Army during the war and so they have put together this neat variety of sets for you to start building your force with for the tabletop...
Infantry & Specialists
We'll kick things off with the core of this fighting force for the Women of the Red Army where we get a command element with an Officer, Medic and Radio Operator, sniper teams, machine gun teams, SMG users and of course some regular infantry choices too...
The paint job on these particular models is great and it's fun to see what you can actually achieve when you have simple browns and greens to work with. There is also an alternative set for the sniper team where they are knelt in cover watching the enemy from afar. Enemy At The Gates coming to mind anyone?
Following on from them we have more of the specialists including the machine gun teams and the SMG armed soldiers.
I think you could probably do with this element in your army to lay down some suppressive fire and make sure that when you're up close and personal with the enemy you don't need to take too long aiming. Just spray and pray I say!
The regular soldiers are also looking neat and I like that we've got a bit of variety when it comes to the poses and the clothing. Most of them look ready and up for a fight although it would be nice if we had some without the bayonets attached to the end of their rifles.
They have said all you'd have to do is snip off the ends if you wanted them without bayonets. However, additional poses specifically for shooting models would be great too.
Tank Riders
If Warren sees this then he should be jumping with glee as they have also created a tanker element to this force. Not only do they have tank commanders but also tank riders who will be hopping on those armoured behemoths and rolling into battle with them.
I think kudos is in order to Bad Squiddo Games for their continued effort to bring more female miniatures to the tabletop. You could easily mix and match these soldiers and characters within a bigger Soviet force to give it a big dose of character.
What do you think?

Funny, I was just talking to a friend about how it was weird how there wasn’t more female soviet stuff, especially the snipers! and low and behold… They had whole regiments of women, like the legendary Night Witches and such so this is great! 🙂 now if only someone would do some all-plastic female soviets…
The tankers/ tank riders are my favourites.
Straight onto my Salute shopping list 😎
Those are so some great looking soviet ladies.
Nice!
Love em. If my Soviet WW2 army ever gets past the pipedream stage I’ll have the lot!
I think I’m going to have to make a visit Salute to The dice bag ladies stall, the Catherine the Great pictures also look great
