Avatars Of War March Behind A New Marauder Warlord
June 18, 2020 by brennon
We start off today with a new release from the team at Avatars Of War. Here we have their newest addition to the forces of chaos and disorder, the Barbarian Marauder Warlord. Would you use this fellow to lead your Fantasy wargaming armies?
Marauder Warlord // Avatars Of War
This fellow is very much the showman and seems adorned in all manner of skulls, straps, bones and more. I think if you were going to make someone the leader of your army simply due to his over of ostentation then this fellow would qualify. The miniature is very much in the vein of Oldhammer and so if that style appeals to you, maybe as you're building up an army to play 9th Age or Warhammer Fantasy Battles, then this might be worth picking up.
Marauder Warlord // Avatars Of War
I really like the grinning skull shield and the number of extra skulls he has strapped to his belt and across the back of his cloak too. You have no doubt as to whether or not this fellow can slice and dice his way through his enemies with that axe.
Are you tempted by this new Warlord as a leader for your Chaos armies?

Probably a nice model but hard to tell through the high contrast paint job. I would prefer a primed or black washed model from manufacturers.
Definitely prefer a nice paintjob over a primed and blackwashed mini.
I could get behind showing off the green or a render.
Nice he’s to clean needs plenty of blood an gore on the armour an shield I think.
That looks really great. Awesome sculpt.
Too busy. Could be the paint job, as was already mentioned.
No, he really is that busy. The paintjob does a find job of picking out individual bits to keep them from looking like a mess.
He reminds me of Privateer Press Tharn characters. Lots of fiddly bits.
Now there is some impractical armor. Full plate from the knee down, massive pauldrons and an impressive helmet, but his vital organs are only protected by his abs of steel.
Which, to be fair, look mighty hard.
