Atomic Mass Games Show Off Star Wars: Shatterpoint Terrain
December 6, 2022 by brennon
Atomic Mass Games has been sharing more information on the releases coming up for Star Wars: Shatterpoint next year. Two terrain packs will be coming out alongside the core set featuring terrain that offers up different advantages and disadvantages during gameplay.
High Ground Terrain Pack // Star Wars: Shatterpoint
The first of the sets is the High Ground Terrin Pack. I see what they did there with the naming. It comes with a series of raised platforms and ladders allowing for fun duels with the threat of falling and some good places for snipers to set up and start blasting.
The second of the sets offers up more in the way of cover. You've got larger rocky outcrops to hide behind and big buildings that will block line of sight.

You've also got a speeder bike getting charged up there and a Gonk Droid just minding their own business, wandering around trying to avoid getting shot by blaster fire. It's neat that the set comes with ladders so you can set them up alongside the larger buildings for easier access.
Obviously, this terrain is going to be scaled to the Star Wars: Shatterpoint but it will be interesting seeing how much of it would work with Legion at the same time. Elements like the Gonk Droid and the speeder bike might be a bit off but other than that, some of the larger pieces might still find themselves being suitable for use in Legion.
Are you interested in seeing where Star Wars: Shatterpoint goes when it releases next year?

High Ground terrain, I do like that name. Hopefully it will come with a “I have the high ground” card 😉
And a lava pit!
Great looking terrain for many game’s table’s
I wonder:
* why didn’t they make such terrain for Legion?
* what will the price be?
* will shatterpoint sell?
For the first question, I think the answer is that they had to, since there is no terrain for the larger scale of Shatterpoint. On the other hand, there are dozens of companies that make 28mm scale terrain for Legion across the world. Therefore, there was no point in making terrain for legion.
For the other questions, only time will tell. That is my 2 cents.
Most of the dozen of companies that make 28mm scale terrain for legion only work in MDF, HDF or make STL that you can print or demand to print. I really prefer plastic sprues. If you go for MDF or HDF prepare yourself for ugly thick finish on details… you will not have not even a single long antennae or a fence that don’t resembles a cardboard piece. Although it is cheap, some kind of details are not well achieved. And you can opt for buildings printed on a 3D printer. You will have ugly thick lines that are impossible… Read more »
* DIdnt legion start at a different studio -so by the time it got to AMG enough already in the market
* Guession similar to MCP so £40-80 depending on contents
* Yes, especially if style/ruleset anywhere like either Legion or MCP as skirmish games are a growing market
I think it will be expensive. I agree that some items could work for different scales although that first box reminds me of the original Necromunda terrain. Its generic enough to fit in any world depending on the paint job. With Legion you can set it on any world but does this terrain limit that? Always fighting over the same old High Ground.
