Ash Barker & Death Ray Announce Steel Rift For Badass Mech Combat
March 23, 2022 by brennon
Ash Barker and Death Ray Designs have now released a brand new miniatures game of badass Sci-Fi mech combat. The Core Rules for Steel Rift are now available online and you'll also be able to dive in and pick it up digitally, alongside some miniatures, from AdeptiCon this year!

Steel Rift has been designed as a game that embraces modularity and customisation. You are going to be able to buy a Two-Player Starter Set from Death Ray Designs at AdeptiCon this week but there are also miniature options available over on their webstore too.

You'll be able to customise and tweak your mechs to suit your playstyle. As Ash Barker says in his summary of the game, that is a big chunk of the fun. The game has also been designed so that it plays out quickly and in a small wargaming arena. The standard board for this is going to be 3x3.
"Written and developed by the writer of Last Days and Gamma Wolves, Ash Barker puts his passion for both apocalyptic and mech combat games on full display. With room for expansion to add more HE-V mechs, Campaign Modes, Faction-Building rules, and a variety of new Unit Types already in the works, you’ll have even more Steel Rift models, lore and rules to look forward to."
As I mentioned, digital rules are available now online and at AdeptiCon alongside some miniatures too. This feels like a great collaboration between Barker and Death Ray Designs who already make some great looking mechs.
If you're interested in finding out more about the game then you can watch Ash Barker's video's below...

I know a lot of folks in the community are big fans of mechs. This was especially the case during our look at Battletech a few months ago. It would be neat to see what folks think about Steel Rift and its quick and deadly set of rules.
Are you going to be snapping this up?

Dakka dakka?
@Brennon – Didn’t Ash say in the video that the starter box set includes a code for a free copy of the digital rules?
He also said that a hardcopy would come out later in the year as they only just finalised the digital version in time for AdeptiCon.
Ah, maybe I misheard him – will have a check and reworked if required. Thanks for spotting that.
The description on the death ray website states you get a digital download link.
Been updated – thanks for the heads-up on my mistake there folks.
Those are super groovy!
Ooh another great battletech, battle-bot, type game for players to get to grips with.
