New Art Shows Off The Factions Of Games Workshop’s Shadespire
September 12, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has shown off a great piece of artwork which gives you a hint as to the other Age Of Sigmar factions which will be showing up in Shadespire in the hunt for Shadeglass.
All of the four main factions have been covered so far with existing previews. We have Order and the Stormcast Eternals, Destruction and the Orruks, Chaos with the Bloodbound and Death with the Undead.
But, the artwork shows off that we're also going to see the Fyreslayers and the Skaven coming to this city of the dead in search of the fabled substance.
The artwork is looking great and certainly has me interested to see where this all goes. The game is sounding like it could be a great pick-up-and-play game with a fusion between miniature-based combat and deck building; which all seems top notch to me.
Events have already been lined up for competitors to get involved with it coming to Blood & Glory and the Las Vegas Open. You can look for Shadespire to be released next month to eager fans no doubt.
Are you interested in Shadespire?

This is on my list for sure. Everything I’ve seen so far looks great, and should be easy to get on the table. Though we will need to invest in a few factions for the new models; Stormcast for my wife, Ironjawz and Skaven for me, Death for my 8yo son.
I am also excited about this, will probably be the first GW release in quite I while I buy right away.
I’ll be all over the Skaven stuff when it gets released. I don’t know why new Skaven stuff hasn’t appeared. I thought they were one of the more popular releases in addition to being relatively unique. They got a massive buildup to their reveal in Total Warhammer.
Now which faction appeals to me the most?? Oh yes I see one…*breaks of the orange paints and the reikland flesh shade once more. Can’t wait for this game, their is something about a minature /deckbuilding/dice game that is strangely appealing.
Yet to see anything that appeals about the game, aside from some nice skeletons. Still waiting for GW to show what they can do in this new unconstricted setting. Give me elementals, give me bug people fairy hybrids, heck I’ll even take fishmen …. in short show me something new.
Yup. Hoping for some good dead things. GW will be playing catch-up, however, as there is some nice stuff out there now. I have a faction that uses undead, and have a fair amount of GW’s generic horsemen, and a guard of death knights surrounding the superb Gamezone vampire command group. Pretty sexy. Still, would be nice to add something unique to that cavalry brigade. I like Mantic’s revenants, but may look at something else for the formation’s heavy ‘punch.’
I don’t think we’ll be seeing that much “basic” cavalry in AoS. So far it’s either monstrous mounts, or legacy stuff like black knights. It makes sense to a degree- in a world full of demigods and sky-pirates, a dude on a horse isn’t really much of a threat.
