Another Army List On The Horizon For Deus Vult In July!
June 10, 2014 by brennon
FireForge Games have revealed the next army list coming to the world of crusading in Deus Vult towards the beginning of July. The Kingdom of France will mount up and head off to instill order...
So if you're looking to take a force from the continent then you can start working on what paint scheme you're going to use for a French army. The French were of course a massive force to be reckoned with in a majority of the crusaders led during the period noted above.
It will be interesting to see if they show off more previews of what's inside the PDF and indeed what else might be coming down the line from these guys. The idea of crusading armies is a favourite one of mine so having a lot of diversity is great.
Will you download this one too?

The thing about France is, different bits of it were separate domains and they spent a lot of the time fighting one another SO you could legitimately have 2 armies drawn from the same source list – e.g., Aquitaine versus Burgundy.
“Middle Ages” isn’t the heaviest shelf in my bookcase . . . buy would you use these with William and his boys for a Hastings game? Would the Normans be considered part of “France” in this context?
Interesting that they have put such a big time period into one book. I think its probably the time of biggest change in Medieval warfare
When Rollo landed in 911 instead of fighting the vikings the French kingdom came to an arrangement that made Normandy an autonomous Dukedom. Noemandy became part of France fully in 1204
I was under the impression that the late-13th century was when western armies started basing themselves around units of knights in full plate mail. I assumed that was why FF were cutting this list off at 1300.
Thanks, @torros. Oh, that’s suppose to be “BUT would you” in my post. 😐
*Normandy even
heheee bit of fourth crusade loveliness – had Louis been a little less rash, his advance into Egypt could have been so different… Wealth of Egypt had allowed Saladin and his successors to suppress Syria, which in turn allowed them to dominate the Euphrates – had the French been successful history could have been immensely different…
