New Armour Comes Rolling In from Brigade Models
June 25, 2014 by stvitusdancern
Brigade Models, has announced new 15mm armour for their Mercenary army. They have added three types of tanks with a promise of more to come.
The first model is a Sohei hover tank. This one comes in three different variants, a laser cannon, Gatling gun and auto cannon. This gives you nice options depending on the game system you are playing.
The second tank is an APC to transport your infantry around the battlefield with some speed and protection from enemy fire.
The third tank unveiled was the Onto Strike/Hover tank based on their popular Shaman tank, however this one has six plasma gun affixed to it to cause extensive damage to any unlucky enemy unit to get in the way.
Even though they have only shown some artwork for these tanks, it will be interesting to see how much detail these will have and how the final model will look. I can think of a few game systems these will play great with.
Who doesn't love tanks, is there room in your army for these?

They are kinda cool, reminds me of the tanks in command and conquer 🙂
I’ve had a buddy pestering me to play Gruntz with him for a bit now, these might make it into my 15mm sci fi army.
Although still only in the render stage you just have to look at the shaman which has already been released from the same designers its a great looking vehicle.

As the force lists for these are being written for Hammer’s Slammers: the crucible these might get me started down that road.
@Ghostbear Gruntz is well worth a game, we’ve had a few games at the our club recently and everyone is really enjoying it.
What’s great about 15mm is the cost, it’s so inexpensive compared to 28mm. You can get an entire Gruntz force together for around $40.
Yes, these look like they’d fit right in with my Slammers stuff.
Ground-effect or hover tanks, you don’t often see those in miniature. Nice! @maxxon , would you have to modify these slightly to use with Hammer’s Slammers? in that verse the M2 Ursa has a 20 cm “power gun” (I forget what that actually is), so I guess you would use the “autogun” variant shown above to represent that on the tabletop?
Talking for Hammers…Does anyone know what’s happened to Old Crow, I know he shut down for a bit, but that was nearly 2 years ago
Dont forget to have a look at http://www.gzg.com as well for 15mm stuff and http://www.15mm.co.uk
From Comments by John Treadaway, Old Crows stuff may still be available via email only order not from the site.
Sadly there is no longer a catalogue available on the site
@torros maybe this will help

Cheers for that
@torros Just email Jez directly with your order, he’ll sort it out. That’s how I got all my Slammers stuff. Delivery times can be a bit long as I think everything is cast to order when he has the time… @oriskany I already have the Slammers so I’m primarily looking for different vehicles in similar vein to fit in as opponents. Many SF lines go from tracked directly to grav, which basically does not exist in the Slammers universe. These also have that “ultramodern” look that fits Slammers better than the “bristling with guns and sponsons” style prevalent somewhere else.… Read more »
I’ve read some of the Hammer Slammer novels . . . but years ago. Kinda fell off the wagon around 98 or 99. I remember their opponents (at least in those days) were infantry insurgents, tropical setting, suspiciously wearing black pajama-like outfits. Hmm . . . 🙂
In a gaming sense that is something of a problem: The Slammers almost never go against someone who can match their tech and training… …which isn’t really a surprise given the way the stories started out: Drake wanted get Vietnam out of his system, so he wrote about it. Unfortunately in the early 70’s, no one would buy Vietnam stories so he had to redress them in SF clothes. Thus the Slammers were born. There really hasn’t been much happening in the Slammerverse since early 90’s. Even the complete compilations were published almost 10 years ago… To increase the gaming… Read more »
