Arcanum Worlds Invite You To Become Heroes Of Baldur’s Gate
April 24, 2019 by brennon
Crafted by the lead designer behind Baldur's Gate I and II, the new Heroes Of Baldur's Gate supplement for 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons is now available to snag over on the Dungeon Master's Guild.
"The city of Baldur’s Gate is the pride of West Faerûn—a mercantile stronghold ruled by the famous Grand Dukes. One year ago, a powerful merchant leader named Sarevok nearly catapulted the city into war with the neighbouring nation of Amn. This crisis was averted, and the remnants of the organization were scattered throughout the Sword Coast.
Now, the city is threatened from within by agents of the nefarious Zhentarim, who seek to fill the power vacuum left behind in the wake of these events. Meanwhile, the Shadow Druids plot to destroy the city by performing terrible rituals, deep within the Cloakwood. Who will rise to oppose them?"
This book will have you creating new characters with inspired and dynamic backstories, venturing from level one all the way through to level six. You will be looking to foil the plot of the Zhentarim and maybe meet some of the legendary faces of Baldur's Gate along the way.
As well as included new Backgrounds for your characters to help immerse them in the world of Faerun and Baldur's Gate you'll also find rules to help build upon the array of monsters at your command as well as new magic items, maps and more. All of this is designed to give you an in-depth look at the world of Baldur's Gate from someone who knows it very well indeed.
If you're perhaps someone who played the PC games way back when then this could well be a good adventure to get embroiled in. I love that you'll be meeting the famous faces too, giving you a chance as the Dungeon Master to actually play as some cool NPCs.
Arcanum Worlds is the team behind this game alongside lead designer James Ohlen and it could well be the adventuring hook for me!

Although they are dated now, Baldur’s Gate and it’s sequel were great games.
Looks interesting… and now I know what happened to that bloke with a deep voice that they used for voiceover on fantasy movies in the days of VHS rental 🙂
Wondering if they will do what have recently with the likes of Dragon Heist as a starter book, followed by Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
However… the Salt Marsh Trilogy was one of the first AD&D games I played and Ghosts of Saltmarsh may get my money instead.
As a D&D dungeon master, I will have fun recreating the bickering NPCs of Baldur’s Gate to wind up the players.
Ooh nice.
