Angry Elephants Charge Into Warlord’s Hail Caesar Epic Battles
August 12, 2024 by brennon
Warlord Games released a couple of new kits for you to choose from when looking to enhance your Hail Caesar Epic Battles armies. We start with some 10mm kit options for you to use alongside the plastic Carthaginian elephants that came out with the newest addition to the Epic Battles range.
Angry Elephant Heads // Warlord Games
This set comes with a collection of three Warlord Resin elephant heads representing battle-scarred veterans. There is also a head where one of them has used its trunk to lift up a Roman Legionary. I don't think that that fellow is long for this world.

Add these to your existing plastic elephants and you'll have some nice alternatives for you to choose from when building your army. I like that they have enhanced their range with some accessories like these as it allows you to build veterans into your army and tell a story.
One of the key targets for an army to aim for is often the Baggage Train.
Hail Caesar Epic Battles - Baggage Train // Warlord Games
The Baggage Train would be where all of the supplies for the army would be stored alongside all of the camp followers, family and retainers who were like a tail that spread out from behind the main fighting force. That means that if you could rampage through an enemy's baggage train you could all but secure victory on the battlefield. It would be demoralising for one and exhaust them of their supplies if the battle continued.
This is a great set, made in Warlord Resin, and very characterful. A perfect set for those looking to set up interesting scenarios.
Last but not least for the Epic Battles range, there is also this set of ruins. The Ruined Temple might have been ransacked by marauding armies and could well be the focus for your army when it comes to why they have set out on campaign.

Maybe base your battles around the Ruined Temple or have it in the background, a reminder as to why your army is fighting. Nice little incidental pieces like these are perfect when you're seeking to set the scene.
Soldier Of Fortune - August 2024
Sticking with the theme of Ancient warfare, the new Soldier Of Fortune for August from Warlord Games is linked in with the other releases above.
Scipio Africanus // Warlord Games
Scipio Africanus, Hammer Of Carthage is featured in the set alongside one of his attendants who is bearing a dove taking flight. These would be good when paired with the miniature for Hannibal Barca who came out in July.
These are 28mm miniatures rather than 10mm as we've been seeing here but this could be a fun way for you to start planning out a new Ancient army. Maybe this could be the spark?
Make sure to check out the new miniatures over on the Warlord Games Webstore!

They’re black, they’re brown, they’re up, they’re down
They’re in, they’re out, they’re all about
They’re far, they’re near, they’re gone, they’re here
They’re quick and slick, they’re insincere
Beware, Beware, Be a very wary bear
A Heffalump or Woozle, is very confusel
A Heffalump or Woosel’s very sly
– sly – sly – sly
They come in ones and twoosels
But if they so choosels
Before your eyes you’ll see them multiply
– ply – ply – ply
Surely one of them is called Nelly
I have the Hail Caesar rule book but have never jumped in. The Punic wars are interesting but I personally have never felt the pull to game them. If they did Epic with Alexander, the Persians, and Porus’s army I would not be able to resist.
