Is Angel Giraldez Adding A Third Volume To Painting Masterclass?
December 3, 2017 by dracs
Angel Giraldez, one of the industry's most well regarded professional painters, has already come out with two painting masterclass guides, but could we be in for a third?
Recently, on the Studio Giraldez facebook, this picture appeared, along with the caption "All good things come in threes...... ".
The release of a third volume in the series would be a great boon to painting enthusiasts, given how well received the first two have already been.
These books are full of tips and tricks for painters, and showcase some of the great work Studio Giraldez has put forward. It will be cool to see what new stuff a third volume would bring with it.
What would you want to see in a third volume?
Not sure where he’ll go in the next book. The last one ws very faction specific.
Very interesting.
Nah he’s trolling us, gonna buy a third set of lights 😉
Looking forward to picking it up, spoke to him on his facebook page and he’s also going to be branching out into videos in 2018.
a new book would be fanbloodytastic. no idea what the overall theme will be but he has some luxumbra pieces that need showcasing. Angel if your out there how about some of that speculated Kingdom Death stuff.
@wesadie1969 from the horses mouth no less. a video would have people going nuts. one off or subscription channel i’m in whatever the weather.
The second book is the reason I have an almost finished Haqislam army painted the best I have ever done in my life. Hurray for the third book!
Mr. Giraldez can easily fill another book with useful information.
He paints for many different companies and covers lots of genres.
Remember what Warren says,” More is better and Err on the side of Awesome!”
I bought the first book, but didn’t actually find all that much use for it, mainly because it focused on using an airbrush, something I can’t really have.
I know that the 2nd book was a bit more newbie friendly, but does it again focus as much on using an airbrush, in which case is there not much point in me having it if I can only paint with a brush?
Giraldez does continue with the method outlined in his previous book. I think there’s still a lot of brushwork in them, arguably more than airbrush. But his method is oriented towards applying base colours with an airbrush then finishing with the brush.
No he starts off with airbrushing models and then finishes with the brush. I myself don’t own an airbrush and did it all with a regular brush. If you stick to the steps and thin your paints ( where have I hear this phrase before..) you get a great result.
I don’t know where else he would go, but I will add a pre-order as soon as I see one.
He’s not covered all the paint schemes for infinity yet, and I would very much like to see him branch away from such high scifi models and show us how to paint other styles of mini. Less neon lights and brightly coloured metal plates, and more natural/historical colours and surfaces. Round out the painting toolkit he’s given us so far. Delve in to some fantasy and some more Grimm subjects? Possibly a look in to how he would handle painting large units/armies instead of golden demon level solo pieces every time?
