Andy Callan is back with another twist on the Never Mind The... rules and this time, Callan is heading to the English Civil War. Never Mind The Matchlocks will be available first through Wargames Illustrated's next issue coming at the end of October and the start of November.

Never Mind The Matchlocks - Andy Callan

Never Mind The Matchlocks // Andy Callan

As with the rest of the series, Andy Callan has been focusing on creating rules that allow you to play out small-ish battles during different periods, in this case, the English Civil War. The rules have been designed to be "simple yet clever, fast and furious and brimful of period flavour" so they seem great for people just getting into Historical wargames.

It will be made available online at a later date no doubt but if you want a copy of the physical rules, you'll want to look out for the new issue for a bit of English Civil War and/or Thirty Years War fun.

What's nice is that the folks from Bloody Miniatures feature quite a lot in the rules. This certainly makes sense because their range is lovely!

I've always been fascinated by the idea of wargaming in the English Civil War but I've never found a set of rules that I felt worked for me. I quite like Andy Callan's approach to rules so this new Never Mind The... entry might be one for me to pick up and read.

Are you tempted to snap this up for a bit of English Civil War skirmishing?
