Andrea Europe’s Mighty War Dragon Takes Wing
September 1, 2014 by dracs
Dragons are without a doubt the iconic creature of the fantasy genre and now Andrea Miniatures have brought out their own model of this iconic monster. Behold their mighty Winged War Dragon!
Andrea Miniatures have created a massive model here. Comprised of seventeen metal and nine resin parts, this dragon looms over every other model at a height of almost 10 inches.
This sculpt shows off an awesome degree of detail, making it a pretty frightening creature for any prospective hero to go up against. Given its size and bulk though I would imagine that this model isn't best suited for gaming. Nonetheless, it will make a superb centre piece for your collection.
How do you think this dragon looks? What's the best dragon miniature you have ever seen?
Thanks to matthias letting us know about this.
That is indeed a massive, awesome model…with an equally massive price tag. 🙁
Hardly… It’s expensive, of course, but it’s in line with market prices. For a creature this size (and this detailed), it’s only comparable to the huge resin dragons such as the Titan Dragon from Legacy, or Cang from CMON.
Would love to see you paint this up in a new series with big monsters.
Would love to have a whole week sitting in front of a camera painting just one miniature, while two people slave away at editing it down to four hours tops, lol 😉
Seriously, we have to limit ourselves to what is practical to film…
I can see Justin scratching his hair/head,… “Only 2 hours remake to process, almost there….”
I’m probably being too picky here, but does the placement of the legs look a bit off? It looks like a four legged animal with its front legs cut off rather than a two legged beastie. The detail is superb though. It’s almost perfect.
No, I can see what you mean. I don’t think it’s a flaw, but I see what you mean. Me, I am a bit put off by the flabby skin here and there… but it’s only a matter of taste.
Eating with those horns, where they’re currently positioned, must be a bit of a mare!

I see what you did there.
As one of the guys with a thing for Dragons this did brighten up my evening … but would love an other figure for scale
Have you seen The Dragon from Heresy Miniatures?
The dragon being ten inches or so in height, just imagine it’s nine miniatures tall.
It’s probably just from what I’ve been playing lately, but I couldn’t help but think of this when I saw the model:
“Amativ! Mu bo kotin stinselok.”

I would knock off the horns to either side of the mouth; they do nothing for the sculpt. Also, my understanding of fantasy mythos has always been that dragons have arms and wings, and that this lovely fellow, in this configuration, would be a wyvern. A great, beastly one, but a wyvern nonetheless. Am I wrong?
That’s what I also thought. It is not a dragon in my set of Fantasy understanding. But of course a great miniature.
For me Cang embodies all a dragon needs. So he is the master out there.
The biped look worked in Skyrim – except when they were walking around on the ground, then they looked like they interned at the Ministry of Silly Walks. Only really saw that at one point late in the main quest, though.
