Are you searching for fortune and glory? Are you an obtainer of rare antiquities? Are you getting these Indiana Jones references? If so, then grab your hat and whip - it's time to get down and dirty.

You are an adventurous archaeologist, digging into the earth for artifacts, treasure, and other goodies. Every day requires a new plan to be efficient, so you and the other archaeologists on the site will be competing to see whose is the most efficient!

In Big Dig, players must dig various shapes using their personal dig board. At the beginning of their turn, each player drafts a card from the center showing the shape they have to dig for that round.

All archaeological digs must continue on from previous ones on the player board, or from the top of their original digging area. However, obstacles can impede your progress, and players have the option to forfeit their digging movement to instead demolish boulders that line their path.

However, unlike Indy, there's no option to let your competitors melt their faces off while you stroll in late to the party, and by using dig time for demolition, you may give other archaeologists the opportunity to complete their dig goals first.

At the beginning of the game, three random goal cards are drawn. Players must complete these goals to win the game and be declared the Indiana Jones of their social circle.

Big Dig is an interesting quick-play card drafting game which should please gamers when it is demonstrated by Tasty Minstrel Games at Essen later this month.
