Snag American Civil War Generals For Black Powder Epic Battles
December 27, 2022 by brennon
Warlord Games recently released a couple of sets that will be very handy for those diving into Black Powder Epic Battles and the American Civil War. You can now snag pre-orders for both Union and Confederate Generals in 14mm (also suitable for 15mm) ahead of a January release.
American Civil War - Union Commanders // Warlord Games
Each of the sets comes with mounted versions of notable commanders from the period. On the Union side of things, you've got George Meade, U.S. Grant, George McClellan, William T. Sherman and George Armstrong Custer.
There are an equal amount of Confederate Commanders for you to choose from that will be riding into battle with their troops or watching from afar, dictating the flow of the fighting before them.
American Civil War - Confederate Commanders // Warlord Games
This set comes with Robert E. Lee, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, James Longstreet, John Bell Hood and J.E.B. Stuart. Some of these names will be immediately familiar to people but there will be others that might end up with you going for a bit of a research session!
Warlord has put together a handy article that looks at the different Confederate Commanders if you'd prefer to get a quick primer from them! I would assume that we're also going to be getting one covering the Union Commanders soon so keep an eye out for that.
Have you been playing much of Black Powder Epic Battles?

Worlds’ tiniest traitors set is cute, and so are the union boys 😀
What? Sherman is not a tank and Lee is not an orange muscle car? I’m confused!
These are lovely but feel, in my full geek, they have missed a opportunity to have Sheridan upon rienzi leaping the fence banner in hand – total nonsense apparently but a great print. Maybe a future convention mini or supplement addition. Also wonder if the west will get a set of each as talented as he was as a Calvary leader I’d still enjoy taking aim at Bedford Forest and shooting him off his horse but also be good to see Thomas or cleburn represented.
How they picked Custer over Sheridan or Buford is mind boggling
maybe they’re big fans of Errol Fynn?
If they’re into Errol Flynn they should make Robin Hood instead. Now if there was Epic for the Plains Wars I’d be on board. You could do those battles in 1:1 with epic.
Stupendous figures.
