Another Alien Project In The Works From Neill Blomkamp?
January 3, 2015 by brennon
Neill Blomkamp is the mind behind films like Elysium and District 9 and his new movie, Chappie, is out soon developing our relationship with AI and Robots. However, he also, apparently, was working on something Alien based with Sigorney Weaver involved! Just turns out it might never see the light of day...
This artwork was splurged out onto the internet over the last few days via a Twitter and Instagram account with the directors name and even though it might seem a little too good to be true a lot of websites are saying this WAS the real deal. It just seems like the project never went anywhere which is a real shame...
As you can see the movie/project seemed to centre around Sigorney Weaver's character of Ripley again with Hicks back too, if looking a bit worse for wear. It was also doing some very interesting things with the look and feel of the Xenomorphs themselves. This is apparently what's on his work table too...
If you're a fan of Halo this might get you excited as well. That there is a Spartan Helmet and might even be a nice teaser as to what we can expect from Neill in the near future. Take all this with a pinch of salt however but if it's true this could have been an amazing project looking at the future of the Alien franchise rather than its past like Prometheus.
What do you think?
Good luck to Neill whatever hes doing, its been awesome so far!
Honestly…District 9 was VERY good but Elysium was utter shit. Those two movies are the only movies I know he created and even though he seems to be a very hit or miss kinda guy District 9 is proof of that he has the capacity to create really well made movies.
They’re the only two I’ve seen by him as well and my feelings on them are largely the same: great vision at the start but then the story kicks in and ruins it. The opening of District 9 in particular is fantastic, which is why it disappointed me more than Elysium when the second and third acts didn’t live up to the opening.
I thought Elysium was pretty cool .. im sure it had flaws but none id like to spend time analyzing. I have good faith that whatever comes next is gonna be good. Theres something 80s rawness to the action and gore he manages to capture. The technology in his movies looks “real” in some odd way.
Neill Blomkamp doing an Alien film?! Oh… that would have been so cool…
Obviously, it would have to have Shalto Copley in it as a marine!
No. It would need Shia the Beef as a marine!
Just joking, please don’t beat me 😉
That alien head isn’t a new design, it’s the alien from the original Ridley Scott movie (1979?). It also looks suspiciously like this;

That is that bust as you can see the same base in front of the Spartan head. So this is a fake project after all.
The Spartan head could be explained by the fact that the District 9 movie started life as Halo in the hands of Chistopher Jackson – loads of the FX work had already been done with the project was aborted and found its way into the Neill Blomkamp movie – could be that he had the alien prop lying around for it also? Think the ‘Hicks’/Michael Biehn survival has been a fan wish for many, many years; ever since the original script for Alien 3 that had him and a grown-up Newt trying to prevent an alien outbreak on earth many… Read more »
So the bee-hatch might be back?
I watched Elysium a couple of days ago – fantastic! I liked District 9 also.
I honestly don’t know what to think about this. The prospect of another Alien movie just isn’t enough to get me excited. The original Alien is one of my favourite films of all time, but the franchise went downhill fast. Aliens is pretty much a ‘Nam movie in space, Alien 3 is a textbook lesson in what happens when a studio interferes too much with a movie. Alien Resurrection at least gave us some characters we cared about before descending into ‘and then the aliens turn up and everyone dies’. Prometheus divided people to say the least, but at least… Read more »
Someone is cruel, showing us this material and then immediately telling us that likely nothing will come out of it. *sob*
looking so nice…
Looked very promising hopefully someone will fund the film???
