Alfred The Great & Irish Heroes Head To Battle From Footsore
March 19, 2016 by brennon
Footsore Miniatures have added some more characters to their Dark Age line-up. The first of these releases is the mighty Alfred The Great who unified the Kingdoms and fought against the Danes as they struggled over the North.
The set comes with a copy of Alfred The Great watching out over the battlefield and his Bannerman protecting him and making sure that the colours are flying. I like the flowing cloak being caught by the wind giving him a very cinematic look.
Following on from him we have some heroes of the Irish with Dane Axes. They look like they are spoiling for a fight; each of them a dab hand in a scrap.
I can imagine that the chap on the left has seen far too many battles in his time and that goes with his relaxed pose. He only strikes when necessary. The chap on the right however seems somewhat more dangerous and headstrong.
The Irish were famed for their individual heroism on the battlefield and would often enter into challenges against opposing champions for the glory of their Chieftains.
Which miniatures will you be picking up?

Good to see new releases from Footsore. I love their dark age Irish.
looking great!! burly Irish with axes look terrifying…
I’m still putting together a Norse Gael warband. I think the two with Dane axes will fit right in.
Those are some good looking models.
