AirMech Jumps to the Tabletop from the PC

Stuntkite Publishing, has started a Kickstarter campaign for their new tabletop game AirMech.
This is a conversion of the game of the same name that is a video game on PC and Xbox. Currently, they only show some artist renderings and what they claim as some rough prototypes of the miniatures (with flash attached) in the video.
The game itself looks pretty straightforward and does not look to difficult to pick up and play. Not being familiar with the video game (they don't make it for the Atari 2600) I did not know much about it, what struck me was that it has some familiarity to it with some aspects of the Transformers (Please no tirad Lloyd) and even an element similar to Dropzone Commander.
Also, according to the video you can scale this game to any size so if you want to get in a quick game you can or if you want a big no holds barred blast fest you can do that also. I will be keeping an eye on this to see how it progresses and develops in the coming days. It should be also noted that there is a tie in to the PC game with stretch goals and rewards that will be available to backers.

Thank you for the news! I think the game may be surprisingly nice, with fast, agressive gameplay. Looking forward to see the implementation of the PC game style of combat and domination on the map. The minis however dont look great in my opinion, hope its just renders and they look better when produced.
Update after seeing the Kickstarter itself: totally dissapointed. I’d agree with all the negative you guys mention here, adding the awful (in my opinion at least) quality of their minis, prototype or whatever. The project looks just unserious, like some addition for the PC game. With high price tag and pointless ambitions. However I’ll be excited to see some folks pledging into this and game getting funded and released.
Sorry but not a fan of this so far. I fought the board game looked good and could be fun but the people running this kick starter seam to be using it to help drive there online game and Hoping there online gaming fans back the kick starter.
With this the funding goal of 50k seams to be high for a company with little or no experience in this field as far as I could tell. It just didn’t feel right to me.
I quite agree with you there mate it does not feel right I will interested to see whether it will get the backing.
The entry point to get anything being $100 its going to be hard to them to get to their goal in my opinion. The game looks good but not that good.
Atleast theres a kickass soundtrack by Frontline assembly to listen to while playing 🙂
If you’re going to try and compete with Dropzone Commander, or even Planetfall, you’ll need to do better than what I’m seeing.
