Aeronautica Imperialis: Wrath Of Angels Starter Set Coming Soon
September 27, 2021 by brennon
Aeronautica Imperialis is getting an update from Games Workshop this weekend as pre-orders go live for its new Starter Set, Aeronautica Imperialis: Wrath of Angels. The Adeptus Astartes clashes with the forces of the Aeldari in the skies above some distant world.

This new set comes with everything that you need to dive in and start playing games of Aeronautica Imperialis. You get the rulebook, counters, player aids, dice and a double-sided game mat. You also get new fighter craft for both factions.
Wrath Of Angels - Aeldari
The heart of the Aeldari force is a set of six Nightwing fighters. Each miniature can be modelled to have its wings locked forward or backwards and come armed with shuriken cannons and bright lances which are perfect for tearing a hole in Imperial armour.

As well as the glass cannons above, the Aeldari can also call on the aid of their Phoenix Bombers.

As is the case with all of the Aeldari, these bombers are actually surprisingly fast and agile. They have access to three different weapon options and two missile arrays allowing them to engage enemy aircraft or strike at ground targets and objectives.
Wrath Of Angels - Adeptus Astartes
On the side of the Imperium, we have the Adeptus Astartes who are bringing some tried and tested fighters to the table. At the heart of this force, we have the Xiphon Interceptors which have been a mainstay of the Space Marine armoury since the Great Crusade.

They are flexible craft that can be used to strike at air and ground targets. They aren't as manoeuvrable as the Aeldari ships but they make up for that with better armour that should allow them to shrug off all but the worst damage.
Backing them up is a pair of Storm Eagles that come laden down with all manner of weapons for turning the Xenos into piles of slag and ash.

Another neat set of miniatures for the expanding world of Aeronautica Imperialis. I've not heard people be absolutely overjoyed at this news but then again I've also not heard anyone saying anything to the contrary either. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have enjoyed what Games Workshop has done with Aeronautica Imperialis and will be happy with the new squadrons.
Aeronautica Imperialis - Accessories & Extras
In addition to the actual Wrath Of Angels set, you'll also be able to pick up a number of extras too. For example, you'll be able to pick up the (returning) Imperial Navy & Ork Air Waaagh! Ground Assets pack which helps to add some 2.5 elements to your gaming boards when playing Aeronautica Imperialis.

In addition to this, there is a new gaming board set called Outer Reaches Area Of Engagement which takes you away from the planet's surface and instead places you on some orbiting moon. You can also pick up a new set of cards which make referencing statistics in the game that little bit easier.
Aircraft & Aces Cards // Aeronautica Imperialis
As well as being a quick reference tool for you to use in-game, it also offers up some named planes and pilots for you to introduce into your games. For example, the pictured Salamander pilot there has special rules which allow him to repair his aircraft whilst in flight.
So, a nice new Starter Set for those wanting to play another of the "Specialist Games" from Games Workshop.
Are you going to be diving into Aeronautica Imperialis with this set?

Hmm…. has anybody tried if the ground assets would fit Battletech scale wise?
These have been made 8mm (whereas old Epic was 6mm I believe) – Battletech is 6mm so these would be a little big but I don’t think it would look out of place.
The old battletech infantry is 6mm . The mechs themselves aren’t any scale really if you look at some of cockpits and the size comparisons of some of the mechs
Those look nice.
Great, been looking forward to this for a while now.
Of all of the GW products out there this one Does absolutely nothing for me.
Like I am never going to play Warcry but I can see the appeal to a degree and some of the miniatures are good, likewise with Underworlds – or whatever its called, but little space ships flying about? Nah.
I am sure some people must like it!
A great way to add a air section to 40K battles.
The only spaceship games I have played are Star Wars X-Wing and Armada . I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how this games compares to them. Thanks
