A Digital Halfling Army From Westfalia and One Gold Piece
April 17, 2023 by avernos
I'm a massive fan of Westfalia and their halflings, the original ranges of resin halflings are the reason I know the company at all and I have substantial amounts of all of them. Now fans of home printing can get their hands on the files through the One Gold Piece and their Kickstarter campaign.
One Gold Piece Halflings
The campaign contains over one hundred halflings in a variety of equipment, many of which are multi-part sculpts. This gives an incredibly comprehensive range of soldiers for your war games. There are four infantry-type units, melee-based sword and shield, and halberdiers, and some ranged options with both archers and hand gunners.
Alongside them are several mounted units to provide light, medium and heavy cavalry options, all of course mounted on goats, with a range of characters and artillery as support options. So your opponent is just as likely to be smeared across the landscape by a cannonball as they are by a wizard.
The Halfling Army
As you can see the sculpts look fantastic. That medieval European style is beautifully complimented by the expressions on the faces of the halfmen. Of course, there is one glaring omission and that is the lack of a squirrel as a crest on the knight's helmets. I'm sure this will be rectified without any unpleasantness being required. I love the arms and armour of the period and this range is the perfect set for fantasy war gamers looking for the little fellows to start punching kneecaps.
If you are interested in seeing how the models will look in advance there is a pack of six miniatures that you can download for free now and see exactly what you'll be getting yourself in for.

Obviously, there is no end to what you can use these Halflings for but for myself they have been perfectly suited to Kings of War and I have several armies ready to deal with all comers. You can even pick up some previous One Gold Piece packs if you're not a member of the patreon already. So if you fancy a pop-cultured take on some halflings and other fantasy tropes you should check out the campaign while it's running.
