Perry Miniatures Sculpt Up 75mm Captain David Gregory

Delving back into their own family history the Perry Twins have now added a 75mm to their collection for sale. Here we have Captain David Gregory of the 45th Foot serving at the Battle of Talavera in 1809.
Here's a little more from the twins on this chap...
"This figure is of Captain David Gregory, who was our five times great grandfather. He joined the 45th Nottinghamshire Regiment in 1798 as a Lieutenant, served in the West Indies, joining the York Light Infantry in 1804 for one year. At the end of that service he was made captain in the 45th Foot.
He served in the Peninsula and is recorded as taking part in the hard fought Battle of Talavera where the 45th received it's nick name 'The Old Stubborns'. He may have been wounded there as he was back in Britain soon after. He eventually became Lt. Colonel of the regiment at some point before 1830 (we're not sure when) when he died."
Fairly awesome to have someone this distinguished within your family line. Makes you wonder how far back you could get with your own family tree to find out who was fighting where in different periods of history.

I love that they took the time to sculpt this. Not only is it a stunning piece, but it is such a great way of displaying family history. I’m a big fan of that sort of thing, though I haven’t gotten as far as 1809…I’m only at the 2nd Boer War down one side and Jutland on the other. 😛 I was planning on trying to make one of my Bolt Action minis to be my Great Grandfather, but I think he served his time as a Marine on the ships.

Would love to see a depiction of John Moore – he knocked up my 6 times great gran before buggering off and joining the army
My own family have my grandfather who used to sail grain and other stuff to England under a neutral flag during the first World War.
My wife got all the hero’s, her grandfather got shot down over Germany graped an other guy who had not parashuit of his own on the way with 2 (the only 2 who made it) of them the landing got rough and he broke his back, and spend the rest of the war a a POW nursing it back to health.
The figure looks great, wasn’t Talavera one of the battles in Sharp?
Talavera was where Sharpe captured the ‘first’ Eagle from the French, yes, and the novel for that story is amazing, but the true history of the battle is just as spectacular.
