4Ground Join With Things From The Basement To Explore The Lost Archipelago
March 5, 2019 by dracs
4Ground have kicked off their collaboration with Things From The Basement with the release of the new Lost Archipelago terrain sets.
This set provides you with the terrain you need to create an ancient Meso-American style temple city, complete with imposing stone walls and sacrificial altars.
As a kid, I always wanted to make a gaming table where you played through a Lustrian temple city. This set has sparked that desire once again. How cool would it be to have a Slann sitting on that high throne, as far below skinks and saurus fight against an incursion of Skaven?
During their recent visit to the office, the 4Ground guys talked excitedly of their work with Things From The Basement, with this being only the start. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.
What games would you use this terrain in?

How well does 4Ground stuff take to washes? Could just be personal taste but I think they’d look better in a darker colour (maybe it’s just an effect of the studio lighting?). Strangely I prefer the colour of the ‘burnt’ edges to the flat edges (best shown on the steps of the stairs).
From limited experience I reckon you’d do better with paint, not to watered down. To match the burnt edges I’d go for a mix of burnt umber and black cheapo acrylic paint would do you nicely.
Though I’d be more about caking them in a mossy green.
This would work well as a lizard City I think.
One thing does occur to me: that staircase is very evocative but one you could fit minis on would be a nice option.
