1898 Miniaturas Working On New 28mm Visigoths Range
August 21, 2024 by brennon
1898 Miniaturas have announced that they will be working on a brand new range of 28mm Historical miniatures for you to throw into games like SAGA and beyond. The Visigoths are on the warpath.
Visigoths // 1898 Miniaturas
The range will be coming out in September and has been sculpted alongside Fanath who has helped 1898 design a full range with a focus on historical accuracy. A lot of the design cues come from the work of José Soto Chica. Master painter Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau has also been a big source of inspiration. The folks at 1898 Miniaturas don't do anything by halves.
The range, as mentioned above, will be designed for both wargamers and collectors but with special attention given to them slotting into SAGA. There will be "thematic phases" that the range will go through...
"...the first of them centred around Covadonga (718/722), the final resistance of the Visigothic remnants led by Pelayo after the debacle of the battle of Guadalete (711) and the subsequent Muslim occupation of almost the entire Iberian Peninsula. This phase, composed of figures on foot, will be formed by a warlord and a character (of course, Pelayo), spatharios (noble warriors) with armour, warriors without armour and levies armed with bows and slings. In later phases, we will add cavalry and new warlords and characters to represent the great armies of the Visigothic Kingdom of Toledo, from Leovigild (6th Century) to Rodrigo (8th Century)."
The initial preview is looking very nice indeed and it looks like we're going to be getting a bunch of good character miniatures and troops to start new armies. They will also be lovely white metal, which is in keeping with 1898 Miniaturas' range.
Are you going to be keeping an eye out for these new Visigoths?
