Call to Arms – Star Trek
June 14, 2011 by beerogre
This looks really exciting. Mongoose Publishing, the makers of Call to Arms: Noble Armada have released a teaser poster for their forthcoming Call to Arms franchise... Star Trek!
Darrell and I have already reviewed Call to Arms: Noble Armada, so look out for the upcoming Spotlight video and What's in the Box shows.
Hopefully the Star Trek version will iron out the couple of flaws that Call to Arms has, but we'll wait and see... although I really don't want to wait long!

If they do this right I’ll be all up in this game like Odo in Quarks schemes (oh no, a DS9 joke 🙁 )
Hmm, The babylon 5 minis from the original call to arms were great, hope they get the same quality into these.
I think Voyager is the best looking federation ship made, have to have one of those.
The Sovereign Class is by far the best looking ! 😛
Whilest I aggree with you @nogginthenog I do like the Promethius 🙂
The Call to Arms system really is set up for Star Trek, just change the generic weapon names (Lazer to Phazer and Missile to Photon Torpedo) and you’re good to go.
There’s also a wealth of ships and races to bring to the table. It should be great!
The problem that Darrell and I found should also be easy to address in Star Trek as the ST universe traditionally doens’t have many of the vessels that cause the problem.
Can you guess what it is yet? 😉
I’m guessing you mean carriers
IIRC the only carriers really featured outside of were the Jem’hadar ones in DS9, since that seems to be a constitution class(kirk era), I’d guess there wont be many of those around…
As long as there’s a good range of ships I’d be well up for this….if only to play Klingons and shout “TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE…..RAMMING SPEED!” repeatedly.
Thats pretty much what I do in Starfleet Battles. LOL
Considering I met my best man on a star wars vs star trek web site (back in the dark ages of the internet) as the might Admiral Hotfox the star fleet vessels simply couldn’t survive the turbo laser batteries of fourteen star destroyers and my super star destroyer.
You can keep Voyager. Give me the Executioner!
It’d be a PITA to park though.
KHAAAAAAN!
ACTA is a great system, and the Noble Armada/Fadng Suns version is a great game with a lacklustre setting, this should address that problem 🙂
The system is good, but it took Darrell to take the rulebook home for an evening and it was broken.
Wati for our Spotlight reveiw… it was great fun to film… and we built a space board!
fighters innit? or torp bombers…we comped em out lol
well broken if you dont know the full rules 😉 its actually not when you get down to it as fighters are not as good as you think
I have been waiting for a game to succeed starfleet battles. I have quite a few Star Trek Micro Machines lying around ready to proxy a massive Klingon Fleet.
Qapla’ Mongoose Publishing
Never liked Strek, so it leaves me completely cold unfortunately.
Sorry but i can’t connect with the Mongoose Publishing and the of Call to Arms: Noble Armada Starb Trek!!
I just hope this goes better than Mongoose’s foray into the Starship troopers universe.
I liked SST, but it was incompetently executed. They had a bad string of luck/descisions for a while.
Interesting. USS Kirov, NCC-1751 is the name and registry of a Federation battlecruiser in Amarillo Game Design’s Star Fleet Battles.
I believe this is actually Star Fleet Battles ported to Call to Arms, so my understanding is in keeping with the license that Amarillo Game Design have, Mongoose will only be able to use ships from the SFB game(which I think is limited to stuff that appeared in the Star Fleet Technical manual published in the 1970s – pretty much ships from the original series, plus those created by ADB as part of their Star Fleet Universe). Doesn’t mean you can’t proxy, of course, but I don’t think minis for ships from the films or later series are likely to… Read more »
Looks nice but sadly for me im a little shy due to…
just as i wanted to get into b5…cancelled
just as i wanted to get into SST…cancelled
just as i wanted to get into Victory at Sea…looks like its cancelled
plus isnt it common for rulebooks to fall apart?? or is that the rpg line?
Im also a full thrust fan
>>>just as i wanted to get into b5…cancelled
just as i wanted to get into SST…cancelled
The licences expired – bit of a difference.
>>>just as i wanted to get into Victory at Sea…looks like its cancelled
No one told us! VaS is one of our best selling games, and is still being reprinted to keep it available.
>>>plus isnt it common for rulebooks to fall apart?? or is that the rpg line?
No, it isn’t.
thnks for clarification on VaS, thought i saw somewhere it was not out there…my bad
Sucks to hear that the license expired- sadly means the same thing to me in the end. Game system killed off.
Glad to hear QC means we shouldnt have to worry about books falling apart
though I very much like the idea, I like @trebormills will treat this news with some caution and keep my excitement locked in a little box, not least of all because of the afore mentioned licencing issues, and that wizkids seem to be holding the licence currently and are releasing Star Trek: Fleet Captains,

later in the year.
