Pre-Order The Starter Set @ Store.OnTableTop
This is an all-new Starter Sert for those who are diving into World War III on the tabletop which contains sixteen tanks for some seriously heavy-duty battles. On the American side of things, you get 3x Abrams Tanks, 2x M60 Patton Tanks and 2x M3 Bradley IFVs.

The Soviets then get to play around with 4x T-80 Tanks, 3x T-64 Tanks and 2x BMP-3 IFVs. This means that you have two fairly evenly weighted factions to get stuck into to see who is going to win supremacy of Europe and beyond.
You will also get a complete A5 Rulebook, a Quick Start Guide and then two sets of themed dice for the factions so you can get gaming right away. If you're into the Cold War Gone Hot and like your tanks then this is certainly a chock-a-block set.
Which faction will you pick?

better!!
Would have made for a great bootcamp!
My Vogans could have continued their plans for dominating the Med!
Personally I really don’t like this starter set, yes its great for the company more money to be made if we start off generating peoples armies with just vehicles. But, I feel having a tank car park on the table is a bit well, off. I have played games of Team Yankee and that’s what I don’t like about the games. Its as if infantry is the last thing they thought of. A wargame should be a balance of Infantry and tanks rather than just Tanks. There was more to 1980’s military than just tanks.
This starter box is aimed at new players, so keeping it simple with just vehicles allows people to learn the game more easily. You could make the argument that the army boxes should have some infantry in.
I’m afraid if you watch a lot of Team Yankee games put on by players, it’s just ranked lines of tanks side by side with no infantry in sight. It’s a “game” and they seem to be happy with it, but it’s not really a combined arms set of rules (well it is, but the playerbase just took it in a certain direction). So Flames of War and Team Yankee usually feature little or no infantry, and it’s players just moving tanks around a table and having a merry old time. If you’re looking for a more “historical” game then… Read more »
I filmed an unboxing on the set before I read these comments, and I do agree with a lot of what’s being said here. The Hit the Beach starter set does give you infantry and lets you play with it. and infantry is very handy in flames if used effectively. I think, given the chance, infantry in WW3 would be just as useful. BUT.. the caveat is that there’s just not many (if any?) plastic infantry for the range. Which does make it more tempting, cheaper and easier to stick with the plastic tank and aircraft kits. So there’s a… Read more »
I wrote my reply before saw yous above, looking forward the drev, having played the game over weekend I’ll be interested if they have changed any of the Stats on T64’s they certainly have on the M1A1.
It does have one extra point Kevin is considering getting a copy at the price your selling it.
I think the problem they had is they haven’t done any plastic figures for any of the Nato Forces yet (or if they are they haven’t got them ready for this release) which is a shame as platoon of American Armour ed Infantry and 2 Platoons of Soviets would have made it a set in a similar vein to ‘On the Beach’ , they could have easily dropped the T64’s and M60’s . certainly some of the early infantry need re-work I’m not overly impressed with the metal Brits have not seed the Americans , but the Metal Anzacs and… Read more »
Amazing value. Looking forward to mine arriving.
Really tempting to grab the box. I reckon I’m swaying myself into preordering.
Looks ace! No use for it myself but had I just been starting out with Team Yankee this would deffo be the go to first purchase for me…
