Watch Out For The British Comet In Bolt Action Soon
February 4, 2016 by brennon
A new resin miniature is coming out of Warlord Games soon for Bolt Action. The British Comet was previewed over on their Facebook page looking rather nifty indeed...
The Comet was put into action towards the end of the war to provide additional anti-tank capabilities to Cromwell squadrons. Interestingly the Comet stayed in use well after the war until 1958 and was used in the Korean War. It also became the interim design for tanks before the Centurion took over.
Will you be picking up one of these for your late war force?

I really don’t think the Comet did much at the end of WW2, I’m sure I read that they were introduced in late 1945!
Maybe there were prototypes battling or something?
I’m sure somebody will know better than I!
The model is lovely, though. I’m a big fan of Cromwell’s and Comets! 😀
I think it was late 44 but probably more common in the Korean war
Yes late ’44 (September) was the production’s start. It was used during WW2 for example at Operation Market Garden by the XXXth Corps.
Nice Kit but not quite right. The front seems a bit flat. The Hull MG seems to be hindered from one of the arches.
looks good they used Churchill’s in Korea as well.
Comets were present in the Guards regiments at the very least, they slowly replaced sherman firefly’s in the recon btns of our armoured regiments. Being speedy(ish) they were a handy tool used alongside cromwells. Welsh Guards from XXX Corps worth looking into if you like your comets 🙂 picked one up from Die Waffenkammer (apologies if I’ve spelt that wrong) – lovely kit, very pleased with it. Besides, anything that puts the wind up German big cats has to be a good thing, even at the points cost.
Is there some confusion between the Comet and the Challenger here? The Challenger was a ‘stretched’ Cromwell with a new turret designed to fit the 17 pounder that was designed to supplement the Sherman Firefly in Cromwell troops. The Comet was a new tank serving in Comet only troops I believe and saw a decent amount of combat from December ’44. More than the Pershing anyway.
