Warlord Set You Up For More Key WWII Skirmishes In Bolt Action
June 6, 2018 by brennon
Warlord Games has looked towards producing two more 'sets' that will help you set up for skirmishes and provide you with the backbone of a force in Bolt Action. The first of these new sets is The Battle For Carentan...
The set gives you two different forces to play with as well as terrain to make the experience that little more exciting. You get the new US Airborne Plastic Box, Fallschirmjager Plastic Box and also three houses by Sarissa.
Again, this goes back to something I've said before about Bolt Action in particular. You don't need lots of armour and such to play games. You can very easily play out a fight using essentially one boxed set each!
Hedgerow Clashes
You also have a smaller set which takes the fighting out of the urban environment and instead introduces you to the French countryside. The Battle For The Hedgerows forces the Allies and the Axis into brutal close quarters combat as you fight to take control of whatever cover you can.
Much like before, you get two sets of models with German Grenadiers going up against American GIs on the tabletop. You have the makings of a clash of patrols here as both run into each other in the countryside.
Normandy & Its Defenders
You can also pick up a big Battle For Normandy Ultimate Collection from Warlord Games which contains practically too much to list here, but it can be supported by the likes of the Battle For Normandy German Defenders Set.
With all of the accessories available now, new plastic kits coming out all the time, and fun ways to produce skirmishes on the tabletop, Bolt Action is very much giving you the entire World War II experience.
What do you think of the new sets?
"You have the makings of a clash of patrols here as both run into each other in the countryside..."
New plastic GIs were sorely needed (as the older plastics were a bit “meh”. Like to look of these and am a bit fan of the weapons being molded into the hands. Still Warlord need to stop doing plastics for the rarer wargaming units (like SS) and revist the older German Wehrmacht minis and British (with their silly gurning faces) to remove the last of the separate weapons plastics from the range. And don’t get me started on the poses for the plastic Japanese figures, the Warlord plastics from the period from when the started with the arms molded to… Read more »
While I am not into Bolt Action I like what I see.
liking the look of “WWII Skirmishes”, will be looking into this. It
s nice to see set
s coming out that dont have vehicles in, make
s for a more intense game. You dont have to use building
s or hedges all the time, you can use just tree
s and hill`s. Or you could always use all four elements, with so many options the skies the limit.they would be great for a bridge to far game with wrecked buildings an all.
Very nice sets with good combinations of opponents and scenery that´ll enhance the gaming experience. The 75th anniversary of D-Day less than a year ahead of us, we get many opportunities to do our versions of this decisive battle. Yet, I would have liked to see something entirely different. Studying the army books “France and the Allies” and “Italy and the Axis” I realized many armies in those books do not have as yet miniatures. There are some, Hungarian for instance, that you can for some part model with German figurines or plastics, but not all of them, for instance… Read more »
