Warlord Set Up A Desert HQ For Bolt Action Brits & Germans
September 3, 2018 by brennon
Keeping us ticking over ahead of the Bolt Action Boot Camp at the end of September, Warlord Games has been sorting out the HQ and Weapon Support for both the British and the Germans.
We lead the way with the British HQ (as you should!) which comes with a couple of Officers, a Radio Operator who is having fun with a monkey, and a Medic who has his stretcher at the ready to carry away the wounded.
I love that the set comes with two such characterful miniatures. The Officer with his pipe and a cup of tea is quintessentially British and the Radio Operator there with his monkey pal reminds us that even through all the bloodshed and sorrow there were little moments of levity.
Going back to the things that go boom, however, the British also bring to the field an MMG Team ...
...and a big Medium Mortar which will be raining down explosive shells on the enemy position to spook them from their hiding places.
As you will have probably noted, each of the soldiers here has been presented in their Desert attire rather than the standard green of the troops in Europe. If you're looking to do a properly themed force then these are the kind of kits you need to be looking at picking up.
Afrika Korps
Arrayed against the British across the wide stretches of sand and rock was the Afrika Korps. So, it makes sense to give these blasted blighters some command options too!
Much like with the British set-up the Afrika Korps HQ comes with a couple of Officers, a Radio Operator and Medic who is in the middle of tending to a wounded soldier. I will say that the Afrika Korps set looks decidedly more experienced and professional as they go about their business!
Weapon support is similar too for the Germans with an MMG Team...
...and a Medium Mortar Team to match.
The stage is set for an epic confrontation between the British and the Germans on the North Coast of Africa and hopefully, you're going to be part of it. You'll be able to join in either playing at the Boot Camp or at home over the weekend, letting us know how your battles are playing out across the tabletop.
Are you siding with the Germans or the British?
"...the Radio Operator there with his monkey pal reminds us that even through all the bloodshed and sorrow there were little moments of levity"
Those do look really good.
The boss has got his pipe and a brew, all’s well in the world!
Nice set of characterful miniatures, just what you expect from Warlord, adding a bit of narrative into your games. Hopefully get to see some of these at the boot camp.
ooh nice love the monkey with the communications guy.
Looks like he has time for some monkey business 😉
Very nice figures
Great additions and definitely driving my temptation for a DAK army
Cool! think somes it up
