Wargames Atlantic Takes On The Great War In New Previews
November 27, 2019 by avernos
Wargames Atlantic have previewed a very interesting pair of renders for their upcoming historic range. To date, we have seen Persians and Dark Age Irish, but the new shots are some early renders for the 20th-century conflict. They are still very much a work in progress, but they already look great.
Already a few people have been giving them pointers to refine issues with the uniform and the people at Wargames Atlantic are happy to take on all the help that they can to get these miniatures as accurate as possible.
One of the historical periods we have been working on is The Great War - World War One. Our first set, Late War German Infantry (1917-1918) is in the final stages of development before heading off to the tool room. Here's a preview of what's to come. We have no hard release date yet but we expect to be out with them in early 2020.
With Blood & Valor on the horizon for WWI skirmish, I'm really looking forward to seeing what other nations and miniatures Wargames Atlantic work on in 2020.
What other nations and troops would you like to see Wargames Atlantic tackle next?
"One of the historical periods we have been working on is The Great War..."
They do seem to be prolific in their planned releases, however they are all over the shop in era’s of wargaming (rather than building up a coherent range). I suppose they might be sampling the market to see what sells best before plowing further into a period. But WW1 Germans is definitely a niche period to go for (for historicals), But then I can’t think of anyone else out there doing any 28mm WW1 plastics.
I think WWI Wargaming is only being held back by a lack of minis. For a Platoon level game to really take off and be popular it kind of needs plastic minis or at least I can’t think of one that has taken off without plastic minis.
Lack of minis? Theres loads of 28mm WW1 figures out there
Not in plastic.
Sorry should have said Plastic minis.
Great looking figures.
I think we need some Austrians, Russians and Turks. We have plenty of Brits, Germans and French.
Wargames Atlantic is the best thing to happen to the Hobby in a while now.
They’re doing a brilliant job going around and plugging all the annoying gaps in the Hobby like Plastic Halflings, Plastic Persians, Plastic WWI and it’s amazing. By casting this wide net they’re doing us a massive service.
Interesting I was only aware of the two fantasy box sets
They started with sci fi troopers. By the end of the year they will have two fantasy boxes, skellies and halflings, two sci fi the grognards and raumjagers, and we’ve seen irish, persian, elves, WWI Germans. They also keep teasing about a mystery historic coming in December. So while a lot is still to be released they are getting stuff done at a rate of knots.
I thought they talked about Napoleonic Austrians at one stage as well… or I dreamed that.
Dont we all have that dream?
it’s possible, but not one I remember seeing. But then it could be the “mysterious” kit
I do like my metal figures but a few boxes of plastic does help to get into something new quickly.
Interesting choice… I would say it is a gamble but what plastic kit isn’t? I’m really impressed with the digital sculpting on these so far, finish the forearms and I’ll be buying a box for Blood and Valor, perhaps.
Pretty excited for these! Im not a historical player, but im a sucker for that era of uniforms etc.
I’ve just started on my great war collection, so I’ll be keeping an eye on these for sure.
