Victrix Miniatures have added another set of 12mm plastic miniatures to their World War II collection. This time around, the deadly Fallschirmjaeger are hitting the battlefield, reinforcing the Axis forces as they look to defend against the Allied push deeper into Europe.

This set comes with a mammoth 196 miniatures in 12mm (1/144) scale that work nicely alongside the rest of their collection. Victrix always try and go with well-proportioned figures in their sets, avoiding big heads and hands in favour of trying to keep them realistic.

You get a whole host of troops armed with all manner of different weapons. The standard Fallschirmjaeger come with Rifles and SMGs but you can also give them different weapons like MG42, MMGs, Anti-Tank weapons like Panzerschrek/Panzerfaust and some Mortars too.

Breaking the set down, it comes with...

  • 112x Rifleman
  • 8x MG42 teams
  • 16x Panzerschrek/Panzerfaust teams
  • 16x HQ figures plus radios
  • 16x Pioneers with anti-tank mines
  • 4x 50mm mortar teams
  • 4x 82mm mortars

A fairly sizable chunk of miniatures for you to use to form the elite element of your 12mm army. Combined with options like their German Army Bundle, you could get your hands on a full army of Germans for a pretty decent price.

I think the miniatures here from Victrix are pretty darn awesome. I've been tempted recently to try more World War II wargaming and I had been considering Bolt Action in 28mm. I might be tempted to try a smaller scale with 12mm though and try out 'O' Group which you can snap up from the Victrix webstore.

Do you have any experience wargaming in 12mm? Are there some other wargames out there that might be worth exploring?
