Join Victory At Sea As The Italian Fleet From Warlord Games
November 9, 2020 by brennon
Warlord Games has continued to build on the options for Victory At Sea in the wake of their new Hardback Rulebook and the options for picking up British, American, German and Japanese Fleets. You can now also pick up the Italians for your ocean-bound World War II battles.
Victory At Sea Regia Marina Fleet Box // Warlord Games
The core Fleet Box above comes with an array of new options for you to use with your Talian Fleet, the Regia Marina. They had a pretty modern and highly effective fleet all things considered with Battleships, Heavy Cruisers and more on the way. All of this was designed to operate close to friendly air bases in Italy and Africa.
The goal of the Regia Marina was to tackle the British and their logistical routes through the Mediterranean whilst also keeping links open for the Axis as it moved into North Africa. This meant that the Rega Marina didn't seek out major confrontations with the Allies but preferred to stick to small raids and in order to complete their objectives.
Additional Italian Support
As well as the ships above you can also pick up the Vittorio Veneto to help bolster your Italian Fleet as it cruises through the seas.
Victory At Sea Vittorio Veneto // Warlord Games
The Vittorio Veneto saw a lot of action during World War II and fought in the Battles Of Cape Spartivento and Cape Matapan. She was struck by a British torpedo courtesy of a submarine but survived its engagement in Taranto and went on to attack British convoys on their way to Malta. When fuel began to run low she was left high and dry and was eventually surrendered to the Allies and fell under British control. Eventually, she was taken as a war prize and scrapped.
If you're looking to protect your fleet as it manoeuvres close to shore then you might also need the aid of the Regia Marina Submarines & MTB Sections.
Victory At Sea Regia Marina Submarines & MTB Sections // Warlord Games
Much like with the other fleets of the period, these Submarines and MTBs were a valuable asset when it came to stalking your opponents and protecting ships close to land. The Submarines that the Italians had added to their arsenal were actually pretty darn good although they weren't well-suited to rough seas.
Are you tempted to dive in and pick up a Regia Marina Fleet and if so, maybe you're tempted by their big bundle offer too?
