Battlegroup Tobruk Book Takes The Fighting To North Africa
March 9, 2017 by brennon
Plastic Soldier Company has another big Battlegroup book rolling out now as they take you to Tobruk and the battlefields of North Africa. Will you be heading off into the sands with this new book?
So what's inside this book?
"A general overview of the early North Africa campaign, from the Italian invasion of Egypt, through the long siege of Tobruk, to Operation Crusader and the Afrika Korps' counterstroke that would bring them to the Gazala Line in early 1942. Also, includes background on the invasion of Crete and the Italian campaign in East Africa."
This then expands out, as you'll see by the contents page here, to include army lists for a range of different forces including the Deutsche Afrikakorps, the Italian Ariete armoured division, Italian Infantry divisions to face British (and Commonwealth) armoured and infantry divisions. Also, the LRDG and Auto-Saharan patrols.
You will also find rules for fighting out battles on Crete and East Africa too. Special rules are also included to really bring the realities of desert warfare to the tabletop.
Will you be snapping this up?

Seems North Africa is getting lots of love atm
This is epic. Some 1941 battles in the desert! Time for Matildas, Valentines, Mark VIbs and Italian M13/40s!
Indeed, it seems like we can’t get away from the desert lately. 😀
That also mean`s, time for “Bucket`s and Spade`s”…………………Let the “Sand Castle Defence Line” be built.
Will differently be looking in to getting this book, it`ll be great to play game`s that have light weight tank`s. Loved the Matilda’s back when i was but a nipper, i used to have some of the “Match Box” coloured kit one`s back in the day.
Excellent news…. Oh yes 🙂
Could`t help myself, i just had to go and pre-order it. Once i receive the book, a good read to start. Then it`s on to working out battle lists, and how many “Matilda`s” can i have.
Another one for the collection – combine this with PSC and BF releases and I can run the Benghazi Handicap until I am blue in the face
Some page previews here gents…

I wonder if one day we will see Battlegroup Modern?
Cold war… maybe. 😉
nice.
will be grabbing this for sure
what was it that they did say about the sand ?
That it gets everywhere…
Hopefully this will be available to pick up at Salute. I have no plans to do the period yet, but I can’t have a gap in my collection of everything Iron Fist have published so far as the books are so beautifully produced.
Out at Salute and preorder sales should go out a couple of weeks before with luck.
Surely you mean with Hans Von Luck? 🙂
I’d love to see a video playthrough of this game. it looks amazing, and it sounds like it has so many interesting design features. I’m just too disorganised and busy to work it out for myself…
Here ye go…

Ooh, great – thank you!
Got my pre-order in. Excited about getting another chunky book and painting up some British desert stuff (as well as the pre-order panzer)!
nice Piers. is Flames of war getting closer and closer to look like your rules mate?
No idea… never played it or seen a book.
Different size of game I think with FoW?
