Stoessi's Heroes has been on a bit of a break for a while (their last release was in 2019) but they have now returned and will be creating fascinating miniatures based on movies, TV shows and the real history of World War II.

Friedhelm And The Wolf - Stoessis Heroes

Friedhelm And The Wolf // Stoessi's Heroes

The first vignette to signal the return of Stoessi's Heroes is Friedhelm And The Wolf, based on a scene from the World War II miniseries Unsere Mütter, Unsere Väter also known as Generation War. The idea is that the vignette hones in on that particularly poignant scene in the movie where the tired Friedhelm encounters a wolf in the depths of the woods. As Stoessi's Heroes have noted, it symbolises a development in Friedhelm's character in the series and the connection between humanity and nature in the depths of war.

As Stoessi's Heroes continued...

"...it also represents the loneliness and quest for peace amidst the war. This scene illustrates the personal challenges faced by soldiers on both sides, encapsulating the ambivalence of World War II."

The miniature was made available to order in January this year as part of a limited run on Tabletop Basement. It is a white metal set consisting of three parts and the display miniature you see here was painted by Ingo Lehner (Kingscorner Painting).

More miniatures are going to be coming for Stoessi's Heroes in the near future and I'm very eager to see what they do next. I always liked seeing what characters they sculpted, especially when they were tied to some of the lesser-known moments of World War II on both sides of the divide.
