Spectre Get Stuck In With New Spetsnaz Soldier Release
October 5, 2015 by brennon
The new Spetsnaz that have been teased by Spectre over the past few weeks are now available to buy from their webstore. You can get Russians in proper full on military gear and then those who have gone a bit more undercover to find their target...
Going In Loud
When it comes to storming a building and taking down all of your targets with plenty of explosives and assault rifle fire then you probably want to look at Alfa, Bravo and Charlie teams who look like they mean business.
The one thing that I'm not entirely sure about with these models are the guns. It is a shame because they stand out as looking a little odd. It might also be the paint scheme that we're seeing here as the assault rifles in the middle look a lot better.
Undercover
If you're looking to head up a different approach then how about taking on a plain clothes approach. These are the kind of soldiers that you would have seen in the movies blending in and out of the background. You will find them in Delta, Echo and Foxtrot teams...
I think these are going to be my favourites from the Russian range and while I like seeing all of that big chunky military hardware I like the idea of the fighting behind the scenes and all the more low key and undercover missions that these agencies and military teams get involved in.
Close Quarters
Last but not least we have another fully kitted out squad of Russian soldiers armed with Submachine Guns for when you need to concentrate on close quarters fire fights.
Once again I'm not overly sure on the weapons but it could be the painting with a camo pattern. I still like the rest of the model though and think they are in a range of very accurate poses.
What do you think?

Spectre’s guns all look a bit too small to me, these arn’t so squashed looking as the M4s on the US troops, but they still suffer from it a bit.
…that’s what I said. The Spectre guys assured me they were correct. I’ll have to take one over to my dads’ and get the micrometer out! Still beautiful minis!
Actually I think that maybe the real size of them.
Go Russians, take down the Pro sharia state terrorists and their Social fascist American allies (what? I am American, I can my country to Nazi Germany if I want).
I think you should lay-off watching Alex Jones/Infowars. Try a nice walk and a few glasses of water – it’ll pass. You should treat this like a scottish pub. No politics and no religion.
When the lovely Mr. Brennon was asking ‘what do you think?’ – he was talking out the beautiful Spectre miniatures!
Spectre do a lot of research to get their miniatures using the correct guns for that particular miniature, all the guns are scaled to real life, so they may look a bit odd, but that’s what you’d get.
I’m related to the designer for the weapons and vehicles, and accuracy is something that is key for him.
Realism is all well and good.
But on the Spectre minis I have all the rifles are really, really, thin, and I expect many of them to break if they ever get used for gaming.
As mentioned, a lot of effort goes into the design of our guns. One of our directors is actually a 18 veteran of the UK armed forces. They are all scaled to 1:49 scale and are actually thickened for casting. Modern guns are a lot smaller than people think! Durability shouldn’t be an issue, our caster uses a very strong metal alloy which takes a lot of effort to break! We have played lots of games with ours and the only breakage we have had is with one of the resin pieces we trialed. We always replace any breakages that… Read more »
I really like your range guys. Those minis are awesome! Are you going to move to plastic, or this is not the direction you want to take?
I love your miniatures!
Derek says “will you do some Légion Etrangère para-commandos?”
nice.
I can’t be sure but I think the SMGs are either Bizon or PP-2000s.
Maybe people think the weapons are ‘slight’ because they are so used to massive weapons on most miniatures?
If a Wacoshop ‘Bolter ’round is as big as it looks then that magazine would hold about five rounds! Not very useful as an assault weapon. When you read about them in combat, blasting away, even a SM wouldn’t be able to carry enough ammunition.
Just a thought!
