Spectre Talk Spectre: Operations WWII Expansion & Testing
August 22, 2022 by brennon
Spectre Miniatures has been chatting about Spectre: Operations and where they are going with their World War II expansion to the game. They recently did some testing with the Perry Twins and with a host of Perry miniatures.

The playtesting used an unmodified version of the rules that were then used to try and represent the period of World War II. By all accounts (check out the full gallery over on Spectre's Facebook), it went very well and saw the various elements of both armies (Allied and Axis) using period appropriate weapons and such.
The British Infantry were used at the Trained Tier whilst the Italians were at Militia Tier. The SAS and Fallschirmjager that then joined the fight were at the Professional Tier as you'd expect.

As it stands, it seems like the game works well with a larger amout of miniatures per side and armour added into the equation with tanks and such. There will be more rules implemented to make things run smoother including how Squads work and a more detailed take on armour. But, it seems like the basics of the Spectre rules works well for the moment.

A lot of folks have plenty of World War II miniatures lying around and would like to play out something more in a skirmish format as opposed to a full-blown battle. So, using the Spectre rules might be a decent way to explore that on the tabletop.
With Spectre using the core rules for this playtest and it going well, it might be worth picking up the rules yourself to see if they do the job for you. Just remember to take out the modern equipment. I suppose drones could be pigeons?
Are you eager to see their finished World War II supplement?

Ooh when they say spectre the first thing I think of is hydra an Bond. brilliant looking figures for players to use.
The YouTube channel Tabletop TC just did a video combining Spectre Rules and 02 Hundred Rules for WWII and worked out great with a close game in the end.
I am sure a Spectre Operations for WWII would work well. Even better if they had either better distribution of their products or KS for global distribution. The hardest part of Spectre is company having items in stock and having reasonable shipping rates in comparison to Warlord Games and North star Miniatures.
Remember Spectre is only two people that run the company
