Spectre Bolster The Reinforcements For Their African Range
October 20, 2015 by brennon
The Spectre crew have added to their North African and Middle-Eastern ranges with a whole bunch of new soldiers complete with a range of weapons. Militia and more are coming to make the job of Special Forces that little bit harder on the streets of some urban jungle...
Middle East & North African Soldiers
First up we'll take a look at some of the leader figures for the MENA range. You have both a Militia Commander and Militia Squad Leader which would both be good for keeping your regular soldiers in check.
I would probably go with the Squad Leader as a miniature to lead my forces on the tabletop. I like the very basic look of his kit but he's clearly a competent soldier despite his appearance.
Next up we have a range of different soldiers that will be looking for ambush points. We have the Militia Marksman and RPG Gunner who both have special weapons worth taking as a Militia group.
The Sniper is probably going to be the bane of your patrol and will provide you with quite the problem in the tight streets of a rebel held town. You might need to call in a strike to take him out.
The RPG Gunner is carrying a rather big bit of kit that will no doubt be blowing a hole in whatever transport you're trying to get through a war zone in. You might also want to clear out of buildings when the enemy has one of these.
Machine Gun Support
If you're looking to lay down some covering fire then you might want to add the African Militia MG Support team to your roster. This pair are looking quite different with one of them more prepared for rural fighting while the other takes a more urban approach and doesn't seem bothered by standing out.
Both of them are certainly sporting a pair of Machine Guns though which is no fun prospect to face on the battlefield.
Have you picked up Militia as your faction of choice from Spectre?

I didn’t think I would be impressed by Modern Middle East/North Africa militia figures – mostly due to my personal bias against adopting the War on Terror as a game subject – but these guys look fun and simple to paint. Also I can see them used in all manner of ways: 7TV, Mars Attacks, Somali pirates, various African civil wars, etc.
Interesting point – the War on Terror as game has of course already been used by the US military ion its drone piloting program, and the use of game software as a training method. It gets muddy, this. Hard to keep a psychological and emotional distance. IMO, of course.
…especially if your were there!
The ‘War on Terror’ is fake and is a war on freedom. Oh yeah, they dropped his body into the sea my ‘accident’.
There were wars in all of those places long before the 21st century. Anyhoo, it is a game so just make it up!
Beautuful work gentlemen – as awlays! Guy with the phone brings back a few memories. 10 out odf 10!
Yup! Politically correct minuses aside, they must be good representations, as they all make my lip curl. It would make me absolutely giddy to blast them off the tabletop. As for the guy on the phone: he may think he’s ordering a loaded pizza, no anchovies, but he’s really dialing up a loaded predator, and they always deliver.
At some point someone will have to ask, “do I really want to play a game against someone who has spent 6 weeks lovingly painting up his Janjaweed militia?” I’d have a hard time spending 2 hours against someone who wants to play the German army in a WW2 game. I don’t know, this whole thing just feels weird.
nice for a Blackhawk down type game.
That bottom weapon looks like an old M18 57mm RCL
..his ears are going to be ringing when he lets that off!
