Bolt Action Gets New Soviet HQ In Winter Theme
November 6, 2017 by thisisazrael
A new Soviet HQ Winter Box is available for Bolt Action from Warlord Games.
"Like the soldiers they commanded, many Soviet officers were inexperienced and lacked training at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Stalin’s ruthless purge of officers of the Red Army in 1937 had denuded the organisation of leadership and left deep scars in the survivors’ minds."
"Throughout the war, showing initiative was seen as a dangerous trait, and most Soviet officers would follow their orders to the letter even if they meant marching their men to certain death. Soviet operational leadership improved immeasurably over time, but the heavy casualties endured by the Red Army indicates that overall battlefield control remained a blunt instrument."
You can also pick up the Sovient Zima Force pictured below.
The kit comes with; Soviet HQ (Winter), Maxim MMG team (Winter), ZIS-3 divisional gun (Winter), ZIS-2 anti-tank gun (Winter), 82mm medium mortar team (Winter), A Siberian Squad box set and a Soviet Scout squad.
Will you be taking the Soviets to war?

Glad to see Warlord still expanding with Bolt Action. I really jope they do a more with the Desert Rats including a plastic box as that is ging to be my next force. I fund out that i had a relative i didnt know about that died during the battle of Medinine who was with 51st Highland Division (Seaforth Highlanders) So it will be honouring him abit.
You could find a beautiful and complete range of desert rats in the perry webstore with their plasti box and the blisters !
Indeed, I don’t think Warlord can top the Perry offerings. Although the Perry minis are 25mm and “realistically” proportioned (and thus don’t mix well with other figure lines). They are my 1st choice for NA….
Very cool. Im not into historical but I’d want to convert these into valhallans for 40k.
I’ve always fancied picking up a Soviet army for WW2 though and I’m glad they’ve fleshed out the winter chaps.
Not interested in WW2 Soviets.
I like the winter plastic Soviets , not really a fan of metals . I can pretty much make any figure I want with all the BA plastic soldier types they have out now , an arm swap here , a hand swap there , a cut and bend at the knee , add a little green stuff and your done .. Just got a couple of sets of those plastic seated Germans which I;m turning into Russian tank riders and crew
Those are really good.
These look great!
