BugBear Miniatures Show Off Their Upcoming US Riflemen [Updated]
September 9, 2016 by brennon
BugBear Miniatures are a new company looking to bring some World War II models to the tabletop in the near future. Here's a preview of their US Riflemen, in 28mm scale, that they're really proud of.
Update: The initial material for production will be resin but they would like to move into plastic further down the line...
The current focus is on making this Rifle Squad for your battles across France towards Germany. The first thing that struck us about them was that they look like they've gone that extra mile in the 'heroics' of the figures.
The posing and proportions of the models has moved towards the heroic and it makes you think of possibilities beyond the regular Historical gaming. In fact, they'd be pretty awesome for use with Konflikt '47.
There will be a number of different poses within the box they are considering heading to Kickstarter for this too.
With so many other companies out there making soldiers for World War II it is a crowded market but I think these have that extra heroic edge to maybe make it into the collections of gamers. I certainly like their larger than life feel.
After a few tweaks here and there you'd have some proper comic book style heroes of History.
What do you think?

Yeah, these look noticeably better than many of the other ww2 ranges out there (I also like the nice touch of them being green in the pictures).
they look brilliant and perfect for weird war
I could probably get a few mates into ww2 gaming with these minis 🙂
I really like how these look and wonder of they are one piece minis.
Finding out more information for you guys at the moment – will update the story when I know more.
Separate heads are planned but otherwise the miniature will be a one piece figure @noyjatat
@Brennon cheers for the update. I think that will allow enough alternates for similar or the same poses having enough difference not to matter, which is great to hear as I really dislike repetition in my forces.
Those look very nice, hope they dont come in green though for painting reasons!
…maybe tan coloured!?
They look awesome, I’m definitely interested in seeing what else they can do. The packaging is a smart move too
Love ’em!
I would certainly back a KS 😎
Will they be plastic?
I am guessing metals or resin
Spoke to the guys at BugBear and the initial material used will be resin because of costs but they would like to move towards plastic in the future @suetoniuspaullinus
Hope they do some grenadiers too.
@brennon
Cheers mate, that’s good news then. I’d really love to paint some of those, they look so commando comic 😎
Those are some sweet toy soldiers. As said before I’d definitely be up for a kickstarter of these in plastic sooner than later.
Will look into these more after work
“In fact, they’d be pretty awesome for use with Konflikt ’47” I’m sorry, have the gods of tabletop gaming been listening to my silent prayers? Since Salute I was like a 12 year old the night before Xmas, waiting for Konflict ’47 but was disappointed when I saw that US starter set contained standard Bolt Action infantry. Now I’ve got nothing against the love and effort put into their sculpts I’m personally just not keen on the scale, proportions and the amount of assembly required (OK I’m lazy). So I scoured the internet for a suitable alternative but nothing stood… Read more »
I am in the exact same boat. I find the bolt action minis quite derpy in several respects and this had put me off K47 so far. If these guys do a few Germans as well I am all in.
More green plastic troopers to fill the ranks of the old guard that have fallen years ago. And now in high definition as well! These troopers look great, and the fact that they come in green resin/plastic is just a fun touch.
Are those renders or final product? If they’re final miniatures, plastic or resin those are some crisp, amazing details. I don’t even play Historical and I’d be tempted to buy a set just to assemble and paint!
Im almost certain those are renders. No reason why the minis won’t look as good though.
Website link don’t work
I hope they go to KS and fund plastic as a SG
link isn’t working
Minis look good maybe a little large. I would mix them in with mine.
Those look really cool
I have to say the K ration packaging is pretty clever.
How cool would it be to do Kelly’s Heroes with these or mix in some heads from Mad Robot miniatures?
Army Men on the PC 🙂
Brilliant to see these troops in Heroic Comic/ War-Poster style 🙂
Oooo… colour me interested!
They look like they’d be great for Achtung! Cthulhu too.
The link at the top of article doesn’t work for me. Am I just having trouble or is it everyone?
Is this a resin model or a 3d render?
3D Render.
I wonder how they will look compared to other 28mm WWII minis that are already out there? Will they mix well or will they stand out based on the size of them?
Link works but I don’t think they have an actual website yet as I only see the logo..
I guess the whole picture is only an animation but with technology as it is (look at the latest Victrix stuff) there shouldn’t be a significant difference to the actual product.
I suppose they will be a bit like GW’s Imperial Guard proportion wise and might not fit in with all other WW2 figures.
Which wouldn’t stop me from buying them. After all their success might lead to Brits, Germans and Soviets later on 😎
