Scibor Venture into Historical Miniatures?
February 15, 2012 by brennon
Check out this Work-in-Progress from Scibor Miniatures which takes on a subject very different from their normal models. A model of a young boy soldier from the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.
Even as I write this Scibor have already said they will be re-sculpting the face of the boy since it looked too old compared to the source material, but despite that its still looking very good. An interesting model measuring 35mm from a very symbolic photograph.
What do you think of this change of pace from Scibor?

Nice change of pace from the usual not-Mahreens – good sculpt though I do see the extra age in the face, it’s more like a young man ATM. Can any history buffs provide more info because I’m curious about the motivation…is the boy in the photo a distant relative?

Good old Wiki searching, also this might have driven the inspiration for it…

Interesting stuff, cheers Ben.
If you fancy some Warsaw Uprising history you might want to check out Norman Davies’ ‘Rising ’44’. He’s a great historian who focuses on Polish history. It’s a great read.
I take my hat off for the photographer and the sculpture. That is a close match. Yes the face is a little older but other than that it looks much like it.
Poor sods sold down the river by Stalin
Great subject imho and agree with Manpug about the picture and sculpt
This history is truly sad. They started fighting, hoping that help will soon come, but the Soviets just let the capital bleed itself out and. the help hadn’t come. The stuff the British would drop on parachutes often landed in the sectors controlled by the Germans. If they got ammunition it wouldn’t fit salvaged German weapons. They had to improvise a lot. I used to be a scout and we were thought a lot about these times. It was pretty unimaginable that boys our age or even younger had to come through. Poor sods indeed.
Those look promising.
Wonder if it will be a range or more a one off.
Interesting even if part of me don’t feel right playing a game where some of the “pieces” could still be alive
ww2 and poland is a tale of woe and betrayl
