Xan Miniatures Prepare For Combat With 20mm Modern Soldiers
September 28, 2016 by brennon
Xan Miniatures have released some new 20mm soldiers for use in your Modern Military games. Regular infantry are available alongside some SOCOM soldiers too...
All of them look like they're set for a tough mission. I like the detail on the weapons and it's neat to see more models with beards! After chatting with a lot of folks about this it seems 20mm is the scale for Modern Military gaming.
These Checkpoint Soldiers would be good for when you're planning out a scenario. I like the idea that you play out some kind of ambush where they're having to deal with insurgents and protecting civilians at the same time.
Once they've been engaged in combat you could then swap them round for their Infantry In Combat.
While they have a lot of regular rifles here they also have a machine gun and shotgun as options too to help with other situations that might arise.
Finally, for when you're planning a different kind of mission we also have a Sniper Team where you have a Spotter and Marksman getting ready to take down their target.
It's neat to see a Spotter not crouched down with a pair of binoculars out and instead engaging in combat alongside the Marksman. I'm not sure how realistic that is but it looks cool!
You can see some more of their range HERE.
What do you think?

I like the standing spotter too. They would definitely ‘join in’ if it comes to it, but that isn’t really a snipers weapon – if it’s supposed to be a M110.
Not that have much experience with 20mm modern miniatures, but these are pretty tasty. The ‘checkpoint’ soldiers are awesome.
Those look like the old Vepa Miniatures range re-released?
The top four are similar to the Vepa minis, but they were a bit ‘bigger’ than most 20mms.
nice.
Yes, these are my old line “vepa” , now is produced by Xan miniatures, the 4 you see are the SOCOM. We arrived and arrangement and he will continue the line. I was not a good historical miniature producer and my brother decided to stop continuing the line.
In that way I begin with http://www.nonsenseminiatures.com and Xan helped me with Vepa
Good to see that the range continue…the vepa modern range are one of the best sculpt 20mm figures for modern combat. The level of details are really great for this scale.
Good to see these back. Hopefully they’ll add more combat poses to the basic infantry and repack them as fire teams. I never ordered them from Vepa because the packs weren’t well suited to putting a squads or a platoon together without ending up with lots of redundant figures.
